NEC'S NEW MULTISYNC XVIS MONITOR FEATURES PLUG AND PLAY TECHNOLOGY

NEC Technologies introduced the MultiSync XV15 (Value Line) monitor with
Plug and Play technology at an estimated selling price of $455, a price
first-time home computer buyers, small office/home office and entry-level
PC and Macintosh buyers will find irresistible.

"Buying your first computer can be a daunting task," said Pam Himmel,
marketing manager for NEC's Graphics Group. "Most first time buyers aren't
aware that they can break up the computer bundle and purchase the monitor
separately, thereby getting the best system and the best monitor for their
computing needs."

On the average, the new user can anticipate spending up to thirty hours per
week in front of the computer's primary interface - the monitor. Those 30
hours can be instantly enhanced by upgrading the monitor when the computer
system is purchased, replacing the traditional lowquality bundled monitor
with the MultiSync XV15, a higher-quality, more reliable display.

The MultiSync XV15 boasts a 15" (13.8" viewable) high-contrast, flat square
CRT for brighter, sharper images with a fine .28 mm dot pitch. With a
recommended PC and Mac resolution of 1024x768 at up to 76 Hz refresh rate,
and a maximum PC resolution of 128Ox1024 at 60 Hz refresh rate, this new
monitor gives the brilliance of a more expensive monitor at a price that
will easily fit within family and/or SOHO budgets.

The MultiSync XV 15 meets strict MPR-H, ISO 924 1, TCO'92 (with lens) and
FCC B requirements, exceeds Energy Star and NUTEK guidelines and is backed
by NEC's industry leading three-year limited warranty.

Plug and Play

NEC's MultiSync X Series of monitors are the first monitors to incorporate
Plug and Play technology. Used with Windows95, Plug and Play facilitates
instant conununication between the monitor and the computer, allowing the
computer to automatically set the optimal viewing characteristics like
refresh rates, a task usually left to the end user.

Multimedia

"Computers are fully optimized when used for multimedia applications,"
noted Himmel. "Family entertaimment including games as well as SOHO
business presentations are evaluated by how great the visuals look when
displayed on screen. With that in mind, your first monitor purchase should
display a rock-solid, flicker-free image with colors that excite and
explode. That's the image the MultiSync XV15 delivers."

To complete the multimedia experience, NEC recently introduced the
AudioTower speaker system, available for under $100. These 5.4 lb., 11.2
inch tall speakers provide eight watts of power per speaker with 150 Hz
and an 18,000 Hz response rate. Designed to be separate from the monitor,
the user has complete flexibility to place the AudioTower speaker system
anywhere in the area, creating a totally customized sound environment.
Easy-to reach, pop-up controls for individual adjustment of bass, treble
and balance are positioned on top of the system and gives the user
complete control of the multimedia environment.

Macintosh users receive an added bonus. NEC DPI-On-The-Fly software and
Macintosh adapter are available upon request at no additional charge.
DPI-On-The-Fly software allows Macintosh users the ability to change
resolutions of the monitor "on the fly" without having to re-boot or
re-start the system.

Another accessory available for the MultiSync XV15 is the MultiSync(D
monitor lens, the fust monitor/lens combination to meet TCO'92
requirements for low emissions. The lens, with glide-on frame virtually
eliminates static, increases contrast and overall image quality and is
designed to compliment the MultiSync monitor line.
