PHOENIX TELEPHONY SUITE PROVIDES PCs FOR SMALL AND HOME OFFICES WITH
"READY-TO-USE" VOICE MAIL, PHONE AND FAX SOLUTION

NEW COMMUNICATIONS SUITE FROM PHOENIX TECHNOLOGIES NOW AVAILABLE FOR
BUNDLING BY PC MANUFACTURERS

Santa Clara, CA (June 12, 1995) -- Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:
PTEC), the world's leading supplier of system-level software for PC
manufacturers and an emerging supplier of consumer-level software, today
announced Phoenix Telephony Suite, an integrated set of telephone,
answering machine, voice mail, and fax applications. It is now available
to end users through PC hardware and fax/data/voice/speaker phone modem
bundles.

Created specifically for the small office & home user market, the Phoenix
Telephony Suite exemplifies the new wave of software products designed to
bring end users the benefits of computer and telephone integration via
sleek, friendly, bitmapped interfaces. By providing PC users with
ready-to-use, full-featured business telephone, answering machine, voice
mail, and fax capabilities, Phoenix Telephony Suite affords any small
office the appearance of advanced voice mail technology used by much
larger companies without spending beyond their budgets. As an easy
alternative to the standard Windows Program Manager interface, home users
will appreciate this convenient way for each family member to personally
manage their daily home communications.

"Thanks to the growing availability of inexpensive voice-enabled modems and
voice-mail equipped PCs, the integration of computers and telephones is a
reality for many end users," said Jay Kelley, manager of marketing and
business development for Phoenix's OEM Consumer Software Division. "Now,
home offices can enjoy inexpensive voice mail capabilities with the added
convenience and control of having all of their phone and fax calls
accessible in one place."

Familiar User Interface Through Sleek Bitmap Imagery and Design Each of the
Phoenix Telephony Suite main screens use a bitmap design which closely
resemble a standard business telephone, answering machine, fax machine and
address book. This makes it extremely easy for users to grasp the function
of each screen and easily access all of its features. Each component also
has the ability to launch and control the other components in the suite.

"The screens are so easy to use, most novice users will be 'up and
communicating' in less than 30 minutes", said Debra Ryherd, Phoenix
Telephony Suite product marketing manager. "Also, many of the Phoenix
Phone Center and Phoenix Fax Center features can be modified and remotely
accessed, providing even greater versatility."

Phoenix Telephony Suite Key Features

Phoenix Phone Center provides users with all the features of an advanced
business telephone; full-duplex speaker phone support, answering machine,
and voice mail. Phone functions include "mute", "hold", "redial", an "on
hook/off hook" signal, "do not disturb", "return to Operator", "caller ID"
(if available to the user), and "music on hold". Users can also easily
record phone conversations, access an unlimited number of "speed dial"
numbers, and assign "default" credit or calling card numbers.

Phoenix Phone Center also supports standard telephone answering machine
functions such as "play", "fast forward", "rewind", "stop", and "memo".
Users can create personalized, password-protected voice mailboxes and a
general mailbox. Pre-recorded ".WAV" files can also be used as personal
voice mail greetings. A "Greetings Screen" includes a text edit box which
permits users to type in a script of the greeting they want to record.
Users can also screen incoming calls, view new messages displayed on the
main Phoenix Phone screen, label voice mail messages for easy review and
storage, and forward messages to other mailboxes.

Phoenix Fax Center enables users to coordinate all fax-related activities
-- from creating fax documents to managing fax transmissions. Users can
send faxes from their Windows applications or use the QuickNote feature to
send a fast, one-page fax directly from the Phoenix Fax Center screen. For
added convenience, users can "set-up" their fax correspondence - i.e.
select their coversheets, speed-dial fax recipients, edit and preview
faxes, and schedule transmissions - all from one screen. Users can also
broadcast or forward faxes to a list of recipients typed in or selected
from the Phoenix Address Book. Other Phoenix Fax Center functions include
easily accessible send-and-receive fax logs, fax annotation, a
sophisticated fax viewer with page rotation and zoom-in, and expanded
credit card dialing capabilities.

Phoenix Address Book is a "PC pocket organizer" that provides entry space
for storing home and business addresses, voice and fax numbers, and brief
notes for an unlimited number of contacts. Direct links from the Phoenix
Address Book to the Phoenix Phone Center and Phoenix Fax Center allow you
to dial telephone and fax numbers with a simple click. The Phoenix Address
Book supports an unlimited number of speed dial entries which, when
"double-clicked", automatically launch the appropriate phone or fax
function. Additionally, users can search for phone book entries based on
line items, print the entire address book to a local or network printer,
and import comma delimited and dBase files into the Phoenix Address Book.

Phoenix Operator enables users to configure Phoenix Phone Center, Phoenix
Fax Center, and Phoenix Address Book options, as well as launch their
favorite communications application from within the Phoenix Telephony
Suite. Phoenix Operator also performs as a "Call Discriminator and
Director" by automatically alerting the Phoenix Telephony Suite software
when a telephone or fax "ring" comes down the telephone line. It can then
either answer the call or automatically direct the call to the appropriate
Phoenix Telephony Suite application. Phoenix Operator also includes
optional multimedia integration features.

The Phoenix Telephony Suite requires a 486 PC, a 256 VGA color monitor, a
voice-enabled/speaker phone modem, and one phone line - and integrates
with other Phoenix products such as Phoenix MediaRak and Phoenix
HomeOffice Environment. In large OEM order quantities, it is priced under
$5 per copy, and is available now. Announcements of major PC OEM bundle
agreements will be made available soon from Phoenix Technologies.
