AT&T provides Windows 95 users access to global messaging

July 26, 1995 -- PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- AT&T has developed software that will
give users of the upcoming Microsoft Windows 95 operating system access to
secure and reliable communications through the AT&T Mail global network.

The software is designed to provide a seamless link between the AT&T Mail
service and software programs that comply with Microsoft's MAPI 1.0
(Messaging Application Program Interface), which is part of the Windows 95
operating system. MAPI gives users an easy method of integrating programs
and communications, a feature of increasing value as communications
becomes a critical centerpiece in computing.

Just as users can now use menus within Windows to select printer drivers,
MAPI allows users to similarly select their communications needs for
message-enabled applications. With such applications, communications
features can be used from within the application rather than having to
exit in order to use a separate communications package.

The AT&T software will be provided for free to users of Windows 95 and
Windows NT in the United States who request it from AT&T beginning August
24. To order the software and establish an account to use the global
messaging offering of AT&T Mail, persons can call 1-800-242-6005, Dept.
Win95.

The software is formally known as AT&T Mail Platform for MAPI 1.0. This
messaging platform provides users of Windows 95 and Windows NT with a
variety of benefits:

Support for AT&T Mail, a leading electronic mail service with service to
more than 160 countries and connections to all major e-mail systems in the
U.S. and around the world. Users can also send and receive electronic mail
through the Internet, giving users access to the most popular use of the
growing global network -- electronic mail.

Custom addressing templates that assist the users in creating and sending
e-mail messages.

Users can create a single or multi-part message, address it to any number
of recipients (using To, Cc and Bcc options), select various message or
recipient options, and send it to the AT&T Mail service for delivery.

Support for enhanced fax features that allows users to receive, view and
print faxes.

An architecture optimized to support both the Windows 95 and Windows NT
operating systems.

Support for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), the computer-to-computer
exchange of standardized information. EDI is rapidly emerging as one of
the key elements of electronic commerce.

Sending of full, multi-part and multimedia messages through the Internet or
any other systems that support Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) or the
Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) protocol. With MIME, users can
send multimedia e-mail messages that include audio, video, graphics, and
text to any other user of a TCP/IP network.

AT&T Mail Platform for MAPI 1.0 will be available concurrent with the
release of Microsoft Windows 95. The AT&T software has started shipping
for evaluation and testing to independent software vendors, MIS groups
within corporations and others interested in providing end-users with
powerful communications capabilities.

AT&T and Microsoft have collaborated for several years to develop a suite
of products that provide connectivity from Microsoft messaging software to
AT&T Mail. AT&T MailPower Solutions for Microsoft Software include:

AT&T Mail Platform for MAPI 1.0
AT&T Mail Gateway for Microsoft Mail 3.x
AT&T Mail Driver for Microsoft Mail Remote for Windows 3.x.

AT&T EasyLink Services offers one of the broadest arrays of electronic
messaging services in the market, including electronic mail, a full suite
of information services, as well as Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
AT&T EasyLink Services supports access to these services from all types of
devices and systems, including PCs and terminals, hand-held mobile
devices, Macintosh computers, host and UNIX Systems computers and
electronic mail systems on Local Area Networks.
