BANYAN SYSTEMS OPENS INTERNET STOREFRONT

New Program Accelerates Market Presence for Third-Party ISV's

ORLANDO, FL, July 17, 1995 -- At the Banyan Worldwide Technical Conference
held here, Banyan Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:BNYN) today announced a new
Internet Storefront to assist third-party software and hardware vendors in
marketing their products and services. Banyan will create an electronic
marketplace in which third-party developers and resellers can establish a

shelf space presence in the storefront, enabling emerging or smaller
third-party companies to expand market awareness and demand for their
products.

The new Internet Storefront provides an excellent source for customers to
obtain information and products from various third-party vendors, said
Bill Johnson, Vice President, Corporate Business Development, Banyan
Systems.

Banyan Partners will be able to increase their ability to penetrate the
Banyan market using our Internet Storefront, but we are especially excited
about being able to help emerging third-party developers use this
innovative new channel to reach potential customers.

This effort is an example of the power of the Business on Mail initiative
within our Redwood vision.

Interested customers will be able to browse through the Banyan Internet
Storefront and easily purchase items electronically directly from
participating vendors, or the reseller of their choice.

Third-party vendors will be allowed to display a home page store front with
links to their corporate home page, a fact sheet with text and graphics
for up to 10 products, a page describing each vendor's services, order
forms, demo software that can be downloaded, and an interactive contact
page for additional information.

Potential customers will be able to select third-party products, signifying
that they are interested in making a purchase. The third-party vendor
would then contact the prospect directly to make the sale. Planned
Internet Store expansions will enable the purchase transactions to be
completed entirely electronically in a secure fashion.

Banyan is ahead of its time offering shelf space in the Banyan Internet
Store. It's a great, innovative opportunity for small third party
developers to do business on the Internet, said Neil Simon, Executive Vice
President, Birch Grove Software, a developer of software utilities.

Banyan will use its Internet Storefront to offer training services for
Banyan users and enable developers to register for technical conferences.
Banyan will also use its Internet Storefront to market products and
services already sold by its telesales organization, including the Banyan
Knowledge Base, V.I.P Connection/V.I.P Connection Live, WinRules(TM),
PowerRules(TM), and Self Study Kits.

The Banyan Internet Storefront is an additional benefit within the Banyan
Vendor Program. Companion programs include directory publishing, developer
training seminars, developer tradeshow pavilions, and other joint
marketing opportunities for independent software and hardware vendors.

The Banyan Internet Storefront address is http://www.ocm.com/banyan.
Third-party vendors will be able to rent shelf space in the Internet
Storefront immediately. For further information, interested third-parties
may call Sally Mitchell, Banyan Systems, at (508) 898-1000.
