CABLETRON SYSTEMS RANKED AS TENTH FASTEST GROWING COMPANY BY AN EXCLUSIVE
U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT RANKING

Rochester, NH -- June 27, 1995 -- Cabletron Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CS)
announced today the company has been recognized as the tenth fastest
growing company since 1991 according to an exclusive U.S. News & World
Report ranking of the top twenty five performers during the economic
expansion period of the last four years.

U.S. News accomplished the rankings by examining the financial records of
more than 4,600 public corporations between 1991 and 1994 including
average annual growth rates for sales and net income and average return on
equity. Cabletron's tenth place ranking was warranted by the company
achieving an average sales growth rate of 49.07%, an average net income
growth rate of 49.17% and an average return on equity of 27.78%.
