COMPAQ AND FUTUREKIDS PARTNER TO HELP FAMILIES MASTER LIFESTYLE COMPUTING

HOUSTON, July 17, 1995 -- Just in time to rekindle an urge to learn during
the long summer months, Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today
named Futurekids, a leading provider of family-oriented computer training,
as its first-ever Compaq Authorized Family Computing Training Center.

Through this innovative program, Futurekids locations throughout the United
States will feature Compaq Presario PCs as part of the curriculum that
teaches children how to use PCs to make learning fun. Classes also help
adults learn computer skills that will enhance their lifestyle. Compaq
will include information and discount coupons on Futurekids classes in
future packaging and promotional opportunities.

"The Compaq/Futurekids partnership offers families the opportunity to learn
more about lifestyle computing, and to supplement and enhance computer
education," said Jim Tucker, vice president, consumer business unit,
Compaq Computer Corporation. "Children enrolled in Futurekids classes will
continue their learning process, keep their computer skills sharp and be
better prepared for lifelong learning."

With this announcement, Compaq and Futurekids will take the lead in
offering families value-added educational opportunities to augment their
home computing capabilities. The partnership hopes to raise awareness that
mastering computer skills not only helps prepare kids for the future, but
is also a way to increase self-esteem and confidence.

"This exciting partnership with Compaq will help us in our efforts to
transform children into masters of technology," said Peter Markovitz,
founder and president, Futurekids. "Computers are the best tools for
educating our children, and mastering this important technology gives them
a competitive advantage both in school and in life."

Another goal of the partnership is to help make computer skills available
to children regardless of the availability of computers in schools or at
home. While some public schools are unable to offer computer training due
to budget constraints, Futurekids and Compaq hope to provide all
youngsters with the same learning opportunities.

Founded in 1983, Futurekids is a franchisor of computer learning centers
that offer computer classes to children in more than 1,600 locations
around the world. The Los Angeles-based company, which currently provides
instruction to 30,000 children each month in more than 50 countries,
operates programs that help children build a solid foundation of
fundamental learning skills by familiarizing them with the power of
computers. In the learning centers, classes are weekly and are
intentionally kept small to emphasize individualized instruction. For more
