Lotus Announces New Buyer's Assurance Plan

Upgrade Plan Guarantees Desktop Application Customers Flexibility When
Considering a Move to a New Operating System

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., June 26, 1995 -- Lotus Development Corp. today announced
its Buyer's Assurance Plan designed to offer current customers complete
flexibility with their desktop application migration efforts. With this
plan, Lotus guarantees customers a choice of migration options when they
are ready to move to next generation, 32-bit, desktop applications for
Windows 95 and OS/2. Starting today, the Buyer's Assurance Plan offers
purchasers of Lotus' existing Windows 3.1 desktop products a free license
for software upgrades to Lotus' next generation products.

Lotus recognizes that all users will not immediately migrate to Windows 95
and puts in place a guarantee that Lotus will ease the transition and
enable users to migrate to the operating system of their choice at their
own pace. With the plan announced today, Lotus is giving its customers
time to move by enabling them to take immediate advantage of the
productivity offered by the latest Lotus products, while providing
cost-free migration to licenses of Lotus' next generation desktop
releases.

The current message in the technology market is that it's time to consider
a move to new platforms, said Bob Weiler, Lotus' senior vice president of
Worldwide Sales and Marketing. Lotus is fully committed to the delivery of
next generation applications on both Windows 95 and OS/2. At the same
time, we recognize the need to offer users an easy migration path so they
can take advantage of the great desktop applications that are available
right now.

Lotus recognizes the risks and especially the potentially expensive costs
facing companies as they consider the move to a new operating system, said
Chris LeTocq, a principal of SoftTracks Software Research in Los Altos,
CA. Lotus' cross-platform plan and upgrade policy is designed to minimize
the risk and provide effective cost-management for companies facing
migration decisions.

The Buyer's Assurance Plan is available to customers purchasing Lotus
Windows 3.1 desktop applications beginning today, June 26, 1995, through
December 31, 1995. This offer extends to the software license only and
must be redeemed by June 30, 1996. Product media for next generation
32-bit applications will be available to plan participants for a nominal
shipping and handling charge of $9.95 for CD-ROM products. Standard disk
versions will run $19.95 for individual desktop applications and $29.95
for SmartSuite. Documentation is optional and available for $24.95 for
individual desktop applications and $34.95 for SmartSuite. This plan will
extend to Lotus' NotesSuite and Passport purchasers who may also take
advantage of the upgrade offer. Terms of this plan are for the U.S. only.
The Buyer's Assurance Plan will be extended to Lotus customers worldwide
with similar terms. Details on the plan outside the U.S. will be made
available to customers via their local Lotus offices.

To take advantage of the Buyer's Assurance Plan, customers should send the
product registration card directly to Lotus. Lotus will send customers a
coupon for later redemption before June 30, 1996. Customers can call
1-800-343-5414 in the U.S. or 1-800-GO-LOTUS in Canada for further
information.

A 16-bit Windows 3.1 version of SmartSuite, including Word Pro, will be
available in the third quarter of 1995. The Windows 95 version of Lotus
SmartSuite is expected to ship in Fall 1995. A new OS/2 version to follow
