Subpanes/V Provides Powerful Table Pane, Columnar List Box, 3-D Frame, and
More for PARTS

San Jose, CA, June 26, 1995 - Objectshare Systems, Inc. announces
Subpanes/V for Visual Smalltalk. Subpanes/V offers a variety of user
interface controls for use in the PARTS Workbench and in WindowBuilder
Pro/V. Subpanes/V supplies a new catalog of parts that go beyond the
capabilities of the standard controls supplied in PARTS with a powerful
table pane, columnar list box, hierarchical list box, 3-D frame, 3-D
buttons, and more. This is the first time this capability is available for
PARTS. Subpanes/V is available for VST Win32/NT and for VST OS/2.

The table pane part provides a scrollable grid of editable cells, like the
table pane included with PARTS but with many added features. The cells can
contain dropdown list boxes, combo boxes, editable text, or read-only
text. The table pane can manage a matrix of strings, a collection of
objects, or a matrix of objects. Interfacing with objects enables
programmers to use the powerful features easily because they tell the
table pane how to access the data rather than modifying the data to fit
the table pane. Programmers have control of fonts, fore colors and back
colors, and read-only cell by cell. They can specify single, multiple, or
extended select modes. The text for the headings and cells can be left or
right justified or centered. The headings have a 3-D look. The table pane
gives them the choice of letting the user re-order columns and rows with
the mouse.

The columnar list box part lets applications display multiple pieces of
information about each object in a list box. The columnar list box
provides the same control of fonts, colors, justification and so on as the
Subpanes/V table pane. The list box supports single and multiple select
modes. It supports reordering and resizing the columns by the user. Like
the table pane, programmers set up the columnar list box for the protocol
of the underlying object rather than modifying the object to fit the
columnar list box protocol.

A hierarchical list box part is similar to the list box supplied with
PARTS, but it can view a hierarchical group of objects rather than simply
a flat list of strings. In addition, it can display an icon before each
item. It can show one icon for an expanded item and a different one for a
collapsed item. Subpanes/V also includes 3D frames, 3-D buttons, bitmap
buttons, bar and circular gauges, spin button, time, date, and number
editors, a value set control, scroll bars, and a bitmap pane.

Subpanes/V is written entirely in Visual Smalltalk and includes complete
Smalltalk source code. There are no royalties for distribution of end-user
applications. Subpanes/V provides complete portability of the controls
between Windows, Windows NT, and OS/2. Subpanes/V is also fully integrated
with WindowBuilder Pro/V, the leading UI builder for Visual Smalltalk. It
includes complete documentation, and ninety days of free technical support
from Smalltalk experts at OSI by telephone, fax, and CompuServe. It comes
with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Subpanes/V for VST Windows and for VST
OS/2 cost $295 each and are now shipping.
