SoftArc Expands Offerings in Macintosh Workgroup Market; Introduces
FirstClass for Power Macintosh

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 11, 1995--SoftArc Inc., a leading developer and
manufacturer of enterprise-wide, cross-platform group communication
software, today unveiled a native FirstClass Client for Power Macintosh at
the Mactivity '95 show in San Jose. The Company also announced a native
FirstClass Server for Power Macintosh supporting Open Transport.

FirstClass Client 2.7 for Power Macintosh, now released, offers speed
improvements for end-users, primarily in sorting and graphic redraw
operations. While the new Power Macintosh Client is available as a
separate application, the standard shipping FirstClass Client for Mac OS
has been reissued as version 2.7 and is now a universal "fat binary"
Macintosh application containing both 68K and native Power Macintosh
versions. (SoftArc has also made a separate 2.7 68K version available for
sites without Power Macintosh CPUs.)

As with all FirstClass clients, the three new FirstClass Clients for
Macintosh are freely distributable and are available from SoftArc, various
Internet sites and commercial online services. No upgrade fees are charged
for the new versions. The new clients work with both the FirstClass Server
for Macintosh or FirstClass Server for Windows NT.

SoftArc also announced a FirstClass Server for Power Macintosh. The new
server will offer performance enhancements--particularly over network
connections-and will support Apple's forthcoming Open Transport native
Power Macintosh protocol implementation. Pricing and upgrade information
will be available upon the new product's release, scheduled for the end of
1995.

"FirstClass started on the Macintosh, and the Macintosh remains a central
focus for SoftArc," stated Steven Asbury, president of SoftArc Inc. "With
approximately 3.3 million users--more than any other Mac e-mail
vendor-SoftArc is the clear leader in the Macintosh e-mail and groupware
markets. We will continue to provide solutions that leverage Apple's
best-of-breed technology. FirstClass for Power Macintosh and our support
for Open Transport show our commitment to the needs of Macintosh sites."

FirstClass is a client/server workgroup communication system that
integrates advanced e-mail with replicable discussion databases, remote
