SURFWATCH ENABLES AMERICA ONLINE TO EXPAND PARENTAL CONTROLS

Internet Blocking Software Rapidly Becoming Industry Standard

Washington, July 17, 1995 -- SurfWatch Software, Inc. today announced that
it has signed a letter of intent with America Online, Inc. to provide
technology which will add additional capability to AOL's parental control
feature. SurfWatch is the first Internet software product to block
unwanted sexually explicit material.

"SurfWatch will help more than 3 million America Online members limit
access to unwanted material on the Internet," said Bill Duvall, CEO of
SurfWatch Software, Inc. "We are pleased to be working with America Online
to bring their members tools which help them choose what their children
see on the Internet without decreasing its power or educational value."

SurfWatch creates Internet software products for both Windows and Macintosh
platforms and licenses Internet access control technology to the online
services industry. SurfWatch is a powerful tool for a wide audience of
Internet users, including parents, educators, and employers who wish to
reduce the risk of children and others accidentally or deliberately
accessing sexually explicit material.

"America Online wants to empower parents with the appropriate tools to
restrict access to various parts of AOL and the Internet for their
children," said Ted Leonsis, President, America Online Services Company.
"Today we are announcing plans to use tools from SurfWatch to expand our
Internet parental control capability."

SurfWatch gives parents and educators the opportunity to limit unwanted
material without restricting the access rights of other Internet users. No
material is actually removed from the Internet or any server. It is simply
blocked at each individual computer where SurfWatch is installed.

SurfWatch screens Internet newsgroups, World Wide Web, FTP, Gopher, Chat
and other services. Because new sites appear on the Internet daily,
SurfWatch Software also offers the SurfWatch Subscription Service which
provides updates to the database of blocked sites.

In related announcements, SurfWatch Software demonstrated its software to
key members of Congress and signed an exclusive retail affiliation
agreement with Ventana Communications Group, which will make SurfWatch
widely available to consumers in stores across the United States, Canada,
and the United Kingdom.

SurfWatch Software, Inc. based in Los Altos, CA, is pioneering the
development of new technologies for the Internet. Founded in January 1995,
SurfWatch's first products enable parents, teachers, and employers to
block sexually explicit material on the Internet. SurfWatch Software can
