SURFWATCH RELEASES INTERNET BLOCKER FOR WINDOWS, PARTNERS WITH VENTANA TO
MEET CONSUMER DEMAND

New software helps Parents and Educators take responsibility for what
children see on the Internet

Washington, July 17, 1995 -- SurfWatch Software, Inc. today announced the
availability of SurfWatch 1.0 for Windows, first of its kind Internet
software for blocking unwanted sexually explicit material. In a related
announcement, SurfWatch Software signed an exclusive retail affiliation
with Ventana Communications Group which will make the software widely
available to consumers in stores across the United States, Canada, and the
United Kingdom.

"SurfWatch for Windows gives parents and educators a powerful new tool to
limit access to inappropriate material on their own computers," said Bill
Duvall, CEO of SurfWatch Software. "The combined efforts of SurfWatch and
Ventana will make this technology widely and easily available."

With its Windows version joining the previously released Macintosh version,
SurfWatch is now available for a wide audience of Internet users,
including parents, educators, and employers who wish to reduce the risk of
children and others from accidentally or deliberately uncovering sexually
explicit material.

"Ventana is in the business of helping consumers benefit from technology,
especially the Internet," said Josef Woodman, president of Ventana
Communications Group. "We are excited about making an industry standard
product like SurfWatch available to the general public. Along with our
best-selling Internet Membership Kit and NetScape Navigator Personal
Edition, we expect very strong demand for SurfWatch in retail stores."

Because new sites appear on the Internet daily, SurfWatch Software also
offers the SurfWatch Subscription Service which provides updates to the
database of blocked sites. Custom site databases are also available which
block according to specific preferences. SurfWatch supports all of the
popular browsers and key Internet applications based on the Winsock
interface. The product works with direct Internet connections via modem
(SLIP or PPP), ISDN, or high-speed link.

Pricing and availability

The estimated street price for SurfWatch is $49.95, with a monthly
subscription fee of $5.95 for site updates. Direct and Educational
shipments of the Windows version will begin July 23, and SurfWatch will be
available on retail shelves within 60 days. Special volume pricing is
available for educational institutions and there is an authorized purchase
program for Internet Service Providers. The product is also sold via the
