Kannegaard and Melling Tapped to Deliver Keynote Speeches at TCP/IP Expo

Key Executives at SunSoft and Digital Will Share Their Views on the Future
of TCP/IP In the Evolving Open Computing Market

FORT WASHINGTON, PA --July 12, 1995 --The organizers of TCP/IP Expo
announced today that two distinguished industry leaders have agreed to
deliver keynote addresses at the new trade show, which is scheduled to be
held August 6-10 at the San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, California.
Jon Kannegaard, newly appointed president of SunSoft, and Wesley Melling,
Vice President of OpenVMS Systems Business for Digital Equipment
Corporation, have both agreed to share their views on the vital role
TCP/IP technology plays in the rapidly changing computer networking
market.

"We are delighted to have two such distinguished speakers keynoting the
first TCP/IP Expo," said Gary Millrood, Show Director of TCP/IP Expo.
"TCP/IP remains the core technology for computer internetworking, and
technologies such as SunSoft's NFS and Digital's OpenVMS were developed
specifically to allow corporate customers to take advantage of TCP/IP
standards. Both Jon Kannegaard and Wesley Melling are in an ideal position
to tell us what their customers expect from TCP/IP technology in the
months ahead."

In his keynote address on Tuesday, August 8, Wesley Melling will address
the future of TCP/IP networking as we approach the year 2,000. Among the
topics he will speculate upon will be the advent of TCP/IP and its impact
on network addressing conventions and routing, the coexistence of various
network protocols, and TCP/IP's ongoing viability as the glue that holds
internetworking together. Melling has more than 33 years of experience in
the computer industry, including positions as Program Director, Systems
Software Technology for the Gartner Group and Senior Vice President of
Information Resource Management for the Ingram Distribution Group.

On Wednesday, August 9, Jon Kannegaard will deliver his keynote speech
focusing on the next generation of TCP/IP applications. "Standards-based
Networks and TCP/IP: Embracing PCs." In his keynote address, Kannegaard
will deliver his perspective on the future of TCP/IP-based open computing,
including new Internet applications such as electronic commerce.
Kannegaard has been with Sun Microsystems since 1987 and has held a number
of executive positions with Sun, most recently as vice president and
general manager of SunSoft's developer products business unit. He was
named president of SunSoft in April of this year.
