WATCOM ANNOUNCES NEW VERSION OF WATCOM C/C++

New Visual Development Tool Increases Developer Productivity

Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, July 17, 1995 -- Watcom, a division of Powersoft
Corporation and Sybase, Inc., today announced Watcom C/C++ version 10.5, a
new release of its multi-platform, high-performance development system.
The award-winning Watcom C/C++ compiler and tools have been complemented
in Version 10.5 with the inclusion of Visual Programmer by Blue Sky
Software, enabling rapid 16- and 32-bit Windows development. Support for
the pre-release version of Windows 95 has been added to the package.
General availability of Watcom C/C++ version 10.5 is currently scheduled
to ship this month.

Watcom C/C++ delivers a professional, cross-platform development system
that produces high-performance executables for a wide range of platforms.
It offers powerful cross-platform capabilities for developers who are
working on projects that target multiple platforms including extensive
support for both 16- and 32-bit Windows application development.

Visual Programmer is a visual development tool and fast MFC code generator
for quick, easy and intuitive development of 16- and 32-bit Windows
applications. The MFC code generated by Visual Programmer can be
recompiled to target 16- and 32-bit Windows environments.

Today's diverse range of operating environments presents complex challenges
for developers who are creating high-performance applications, said Ian
McPhee, president of Watcom. Watcom C/C++ is an elegant solution that
offers extensive cross-platform support and produces high-performance
code. Version 10.5 strengthens these capabilities with support for Windows
95 and the addition of Blue Sky Software's Visual Programmer.

Watcom C/C++ gives us a competitive edge by enabling our developers to
produce quick, robust applications for 16- and 32-bit Windows platforms
and extended DOS, said Dan Springate, president of D.L. Springate
Securities.

The inclusion of Visual Programmer will make it easier for us to leverage
the existing code base of our product, 'SWAMI', a series of applications
used for trading on the financial markets.

Visual Programmer allows quick and easy development of the user interface,
so developers can concentrate their efforts on the underlying code using
Watcom C/C++, said Jorgen Lien, president of Blue Sky Software. We've
worked closely with Watcom to integrate Visual Programmer and Watcom
C/C++.

With Watcom C/C++ 10.5, developers can create applications for the
pre-release version of Windows 95. All registered Watcom C/C++ 10.5
customers will be eligible to receive a free Watcom C/C++ version upgrade,
featuring additional Windows 95 support. This version upgrade is expected
to ship subsequent to the general availability of Windows 95.

CROSS-PLATFORM FUNCTIONALITY

Watcom C/C++'s cross-platform capabilities enable the development of
programs for a wide variety of environments from any of several supported
host systems. Thus, developers can standardize on a single host
environment and toolset for application development across a wide range of
target systems. Watcom C/C++'s multi-platform target support includes
Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 3.x, Win32s, OS/2 Warp, extended DOS,
16-bit DOS, OS/2 1.x, and Novell NLMs.

Watcom C/C++ supports key emerging and de facto standards, including
Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) library and Object Linking and Embedding
(OLE) specifications, and IBM's System Object Model (SOM) and Distributed
System Object Model (DSOM) technology. Reliable, high-performance code
generation and consistent C and C++ language implementation are delivered
across all supported platforms, facilitating the development of
applications for several targets from a single-source code base.
