WATCOM ANNOUNCES THE INTEGRATION OF WATCOM SQL INTO COGNITECH'S SHARKWARE
C/S

Embedded Watcom SQL Provides Sharkware C/S Users With Superior Data
Handling Capabilities and Performance

Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, July 25, 1995 -- Powersoft, Watcom Products
Division, today announced that Watcom SQL Server is being used in
CogniTech Corporation's Sharkware C/S, a powerful contact and activity
management and sales force automation solution. The Watcom SQL database
embedded in Sharkware C/S provides users with superior data handling
capabilities and performance, as well as compatibility with every major
database vendor and third party development tools such as PowerBuilder,
Visual Basic and Visual C++.

Watcom SQL addresses the rapidly growing market for an affordable database
server that can be broadly deployed, with little administrative support,
for desktop, mobile and workgroup applications. Watcom SQL was designed
with a small disk and memory footprint for the desktop PC and LAN server
environments, and its self-tuning query optimizer offers excellent
performance out of the box. It is appropriate for applications where no
administrator is readily available, such as embedded applications, field
force automation solutions and branch office systems.

Watcom SQL was a clear choice because of its efficient use of resources and
its maintenance free operation, said Charlie Cumbaa, president of
CogniTech Corporation. The base configuration of Sharkware C/S utilizes
the Watcom SQL database to provide a high performance solution capable of
easily handling large databases and a large number of users.

Sharkware C/S is a client/server network version of Sharkware Professional,
designed for organizations ranging from two people needing to share
information to hundreds of concurrent users. Sharkware C/S supports Open
Database Connectivity (ODBC), multiple networks including Novell,
peer-to-peer networks and Windows NT. It also provides a variety of
easy-to-use and powerful features to help people manage their contacts and
activities more effectively. CogniTech was founded in 1992 and is a
privately-held company based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Innovative application vendors are gaining a competitive advantage by
embedding a full function SQL database engine in their products, said Dave
Boswell, vice president of marketing at Powersoft's Watcom Products
Division.

Watcom SQL is especially well-suited for embedding in these applications
because of its simplicity, minimal memory requirements and cost
effectiveness.
