Annabooks announces DOS and BIOS Support for i386EX-based CPU Boards

San Diego, CA. August 28, 1995--Annabooks announces operating system and
BIOS support for Intel's new i386EX-based EXPLR1 Embedded PC Evaluation
Platform. Radisys' EPC-41 will be the first to use the EXPLR1 design. OEMs
who want to build their own EXPLR1- or EPC-41-compatible boards can also
obtain the design from either Intel or Radisys free of charge.

The Radisys board comes standard with a ROMed version of MS-DOS version
6.0, which Radisys licenses from Annabooks. It also comes with a PC BIOS,
which Radisys licenses from Phoenix.

OEMs who prefer a Windows programming environment with their Radisys or
other i386EX-based boards can license ROMable versions of Windows 3.1,
Windows 95, and Windows NT from Annabooks. Licenses are also available for
disk versions of MS-DOS 3.3 through 6.22 and ROM versions of MS DOS 3.22
through 6.22.

Annabooks gives OEMs two options for ROMing its DOS and Windows products.
The simplest way to use the company's PromKit with a disk version of DOS
and Windows. The resulting image boots out of ROM and executes out of RAM,
just as it would in a desktop PC. A more memory-efficient way to load DOS
or Windows into ROM is to purchase a Microsoft MS-DOS or Windows
Developer's Kit. The ROMing process is more time consuming. But the
resulting image requires only 17 kbytes of RAM for execution.

OEMs who want to develop a custom PC-compatible BIOS can also license
Annabooks' low-cost AnnaBios. Available as source code, AnnaBios makes it
easy for designers to add custom features like special boot procedures,
custom screens, and security features. Annabooks also licenses Systems &
Software Inc's SoftProbe remote C source-level debugger, which can be used
to debug embedded ROM-based BIOSs and operating systems from a remote PC
via a serial port.
