New York, NY, September 28, 1995 -- Media veterans Candice Carpenter and
Nancy Evans announced this week that America Online has made a minority
investment in iVillage, their recently launched new media studio. In a
partnership arrangement that represents a strategic initiative for America
Online, iVillage will be the first independent studio to develop
multiple-branded channels for distribution on America Online, the World
Wide Web and other on-line services, and on evolving distribution
platforms such as cable modem. Unlike AOL's "Greenhouse" program which
makes investments in specific programming projects, the company's
investment in iVillage represents its first major support on an
independent programming and marketing company. The first of five planned
channels from iVillage, titled Parent Soup, will debut on America Online
and the World Wide Web in January, 1996.

"Our investment in iVillage represents our belief that as interactive
services emerge, content needs to be developed that is customized and
specifically designed for the emerging online audiences," said Ted
Leonsis, President, AOL Services Company. "Products like Parent Soup will
be perfect since they are being created specifically for this new
medium."

Leonsis continued, "iVillage's executive team, Candice Carpenter and Nancy
Evans, are uniquely qualified to create a successful independent
production studio in cyberspace."

Carpenter was president of Q2 during Barry Diller's tenure as chairman of
its parent QVC, and president of Time Life Video and Television prior to
joining QVC. Evans is the creator and founding editor of Family Life
magazine. The third founding partner is Robert Levitan, former President
of YearLook Enterprises, a video publishing company. The three executives
have recognized that a real need exists for popular programming that makes
cyberspace relevant for real people and takes full advantage of the
medium's interactivity.

iVillage is currently in discussions with a number of potential strategic
partners in the media, cable and telecommunications industries. The
company is based in New York City. For more information, visit iVillage on
