Brookfield, CT (September 08, 1995) Inset, publishers of the HiJaak family
of graphics software, ships HiJaak 95 today. HiJaak 95 revolutionizes the
way users work with graphics by integrating its graphics technology into
the Windows 95 shell. View, organize, convert, and print graphics
naturally and easily, without ever having to run a separate application.

HiJaak 95 is one of the only applications available that actually takes
advantage of Windows 95's new document-centric design. It is not an
upgrade of the Windows 3.1 version of HiJaak, but a radically different
application altogether: At first glance, it doesn't even appear to be an
"application," but rather an extension of the Windows 95 operating system.
"This is the type of user friendly software that we would never have been
able to build before Windows 95. Windows 95 gave us, as developers, tools
that allowed us to finally "get-out-of-the-customers-face" and make using
graphics simple and easy wherever you are in Windows 95" says Maurice
Hamoy, Vice President of Communications.

Traditionally, a user ran an application, opened the document (image),
worked on it, and then saved it. This is know as application-centric
design. With HiJaak 95 you go to the image first and then work on it. This
is known as document-centric, or in the case of HiJaak 95, image-centric
design.

This image-centric design gives you graphics viewing, converting, copying,
printing and updating features at your fingertips. Just click the
secondary mouse button on files in any of 75 supported graphics formats
and get the HiJaak-extended shortcut menu, giving you access to most
common graphics file operations you use.

To make it even easier to find the file you need, HiJaak 95 automatically
creates thumbnails of virtually any image using background processing, so
the computer can be used for other productive work. These color thumbnails
replace the generic operating system icons and are visible from the
Explorer, Network Neighborhood, My Computer, the Open dialog box or
anywhere icons are seen. Users can then browse through thumbnails of
images in Windows 95 and once they find that image, they can view, convert
or print it with a single right mouse click.

During thumbnail creation, HiJaak 95 also extracts graphics file
information such as number of colors, graphics class and file type from
the files and organizes them in a database called the HiJaak Catalog.
HiJaak 95's exclusive AutoCAT technology also creates keywords from text
in vector images and HiJaak 95 allows users to manually add keywords to
any image: raster, vector, or metafile.

Using this graphics image database, users can search for images visually,
by filename, location, keyword, attribute, file size, or date; and quickly
view images by double-clicking on them. Catalogs of thumbnails can be
printed directly from Explorer, with a variety of printing options.

Not only does HiJaak 95 employ the new document-centric design, but it is
also designed to take full advantage of the new features in Windows 95,
including OLE 2.0, the new 32-bit architecture and multitasking. Using OLE
2.0 in-place activation, users can modify HiJaak images directly from
within their applications. And, by taking advantage of Windows 95 32-bit
architecture and multi-tasking, HiJaak 95 can make full use of all
available memory, allowing it to run quickly and smoothly.

Combine these features and see how easy it is to work with graphics using
HiJaak 95: Suppose you need the perfect image to include in your company
brochure. You've already used HiJaak 95 to catalog all the graphics on
your system, so finding the image will be fast and easy. Using HiJaak
Catalog Find, search through the images by keywords, number of colors and
size. Once you find the image you need, drag it directly from the search
results window and drop it into the desktop publishing application in
which you're creating the brochure. If the image needs work, double-click
on it to start up HiJaak's in place activation and use HiJaak 95's menus
to crop, adjust contrast and brightness or rotate it. It's that simple!

In addition to the new operating system based features, HiJaak 95 has
updated its Windows Capture capabilities and added the ability to capture
printer output to any supported raster file format.

HiJaak 95's printer driver, HiJaak Print Capture, can capture printer
output to a file in any HiJaak-supported graphics format. Anything that
can be printed from Windows 95 can be saved in one of HiJaak's raster or
metafile graphics formats. Users can select HiJaak Print Capture from any
application's print dialog box. then specify a path, file name and format
for the print file. The user controls many processing options including
image resolution, color depth and brightness and contrast.

HiJaak 95's Windows capture has also been updated to support the new screen
drivers in Windows 95, capturing screens with up to 24-bit color and
nearly any screen resolution. Screens are captured by using a "hotkey,"
the mouse, or the HiJaak capture window pop-up menu. HiJaak 95 captures
the full screen, a window, dialog box, menu or icon, or a user-defined
rectangular area. Now, HiJaak 95 can also capture multiple windows or
objects. The resulting capture can be saved to a file, printed, copied to
the clipboard, or sent to HiJaak 95 for viewing and processing.

The introductory street price is around $49. As always, Inset offers expert
technical support for all of its products and a Money Back Guarantee on
products purchased directly from Inset. Concurrent use licenses are also
available. Inset products are sold worldwide through distributors,
retailers and resellers.
