Integrated Systems, Inc. to Serve Industrial Computing Markets

ST. PAUL, MN -- Curtis, Inc., a leading edge supplier of solid state disk
products and PCMCIA interface products, has announced the formation of a
new business unit called Integrated Systems, Inc. ISI provides hardened
computer solutions for the factory floor, process control applications,
and other hostile environments where reliable computing capability is
needed.

"Off-the-shelf computers are not sufficient to meet the severe demands of
many industrial applications where harsh chemicals, dusty conditions, and
severe vibration/shock are the norm," Keith Fritze, President of Curtis,
explained. "ISI partners with OEM's, system integrators, and major end
users to provide highly reliable, integrated PC-based systems that are
protected from vibration with special shock absorbers, protected from
chemical/corrosive splashing with shatterproof Lexan shields, and
protected from grime and air-borne contaminants with gasketed doors and
positive-pressurized enclosures."

Integrated Systems' has a strong technical heritage from Curtis, Inc., a
10-year-old electronics design firm that pioneered solid state disk
technology. In 1985, Curtis introduced ROMDISK PC, providing EPROM-based
disk emulation in a board-level, PC-bus-based form factor. Curtis has
continued to enhance its product line further over the years by
introducing FLASH and battery-backed SRAM technologies, multiple disk
emulation, and a line of PCMCIA interface products such as the CardSharkII
PCMCIA host adapter.

Industrial applications in which Integrated Systems specializes include:

- Process control
- Automated testing
- Manufacturing control
- Medical equipment
- Factory floor control
- Networked applications
- SCADA systems

"One of the things we do differently," Fritze said, "is full integration at
the system level, which enables our OEM customers to eliminate the cost of
board level inspection and testing, and concentrate their resources on
application software, documentation, and support to their customer."

Integrated Systems' manufacturing floor is built to meet MIL/SPEC ESD
requirements and provide burn-in capabilities to eliminate component
failures, so that a production quality standard is met before the system
reaches the customer.

Integrated Systems, Inc. integrates and markets factory-hardened, PC-based
computing systems including single board computers, ruggedized chassis,
monitors, keyboards, data storage devices, and software via a network of
independent sales representatives across the US and Canada. Most systems
are shipped within 2 weeks after receipt of order and all carry a full
2-year warranty.
