LANCAST Introduces Dual Speed Ethernet Adapter to Allow Cost-Effective
Migration to Fast Ethernet Technology

September 25, 1995, Networld+Interop, Atlanta, GA -- LANCAST, a leading
provider of innovative and cost-effective Ethernet solutions, today
announced a dual speed adapter that provides cost-effective 10 and 100
Mbps operation for the new generation of high-performance PCI computer
systems.

The FastLink 6110 10/100 Mbps PCI Adapter can be used as an efficient 10
Mbps PCI adapter on existing legacy networks or for 100 Mbit operation in
new Fast Ethernet networks. No software update is required when changing
from one speed to another.

The FastLink 6110, which features the DEC 21140 chipset, transfers data
directly between the adapter and the host PC memory to provide minimum
packet latency and maximize network performance. PCI bus mastering
minimizes CPU overhead, allowing for data transfer speeds of up to 133
Mbytes per second. Independent receive and transfer circuits allow for
full duplex operation at both 10 and 100 Mbps, giving the adapter a
maximum throughput of 200 Mbps.

The FastLink 6110 can reliably exchange data over Category 5 cables of up
to 100 meters. The adapter can also exchange data over fiber cables using
the LANCAST twister for cable lengths of 450 meters at half duplex
operation and 2000 meters at full duplex operation.

The card is fully PCI plug and play compliant, allowing for quick and easy
installation under Windows 95. Drivers for Windows 95 are included on
Microsoft's standard distribution disks. LANCAST provides NT drivers for
Alpha-based computers and drivers for NetWare, OS/2, Windows 3.11 and
Windows NT for Intel-based PC platforms.

Pricing and Availability

The FastLink 6110 10/100 PCI Network Interface Card is available now with a
suggested list price of $249. The adapter, which carries a three-year
warranty, will be featured in the LANCAST Booth #3838 at the
Networld+Interop show this week in Atlanta, GA.

LANCAST is a leading provider of innovative, cost-effective and
standards-based solutions for Ethernet networks. The company's
