QUARTERDECK ANNOUNCES INDUSTRY'S MOST COST-EFFECTIVE INTEGRATED INTERNET
ACCESS SOFTWARE FOR NETWARE NETWORKS WITH IWARE INTERNETSUITE 2.0

IWare Connect Version 2.0 and IWare InternetSuite to Ship in October

Santa Monica, CA, September 20, 1995 -- Today, Quarterdeck Corporation
(Nasdaq:QDEK) announced Quarterdeck IWare InternetSuite 2.0, the
industry's most cost-effective integrated Internet connectivity software
for NetWare networks. Quarterdeck IWare InternetSuite 2.0 enables NetWare
LANs of all sizes to run Quarterdeck InternetSuite applications without
requiring a TCP/IP stack to be loaded and administered on every
workstation. The product, licensed on a concurrent user basis, also offers
enhanced security firewall features that make Internet access easy,
affordable and more secure for the large number of users that run Novell
NetWare LANs.

Quarterdeck IWare InternetSuite 2.0 combines the powerful features of
Quarterdeck InternetSuite with the extensive Internet access control,
centralized management and firewall protection of Quarterdeck IWare
Connect 2.0. Now, Novell NetWare users can connect to the Internet with
the most cost-effective solution on the market.

"Quarterdeck IWare Internet Suite, list priced as low as $120 per
concurrent user, more than pays for itself with reduced installation,
Internet applications and security firewall features for Internet access
and UNIX host connectivity for the NetWare installed base," said Gaston
Bastiaens, Quarterdeck president and CEO. "By bringing an aggressive price
point with a full-featured easy-to-use product, we're offering an
alternative to NetWare networks that have shied away from connecting to
the Internet due to high price of applications, difficulty of installation
and pricey Internet security firewall software."

Quarterdeck IWare InternetSuite includes three principal components:

* Quarterdeck's InternetSuite applications including Quarterdeck Mosaic WWW
browser, Quarterdeck Message Center with integrated Mail and News, QTERM
(Telnet), QFTP (File Transfer Protocol), and Quarterdeck Ping all licensed
on a concurrent user basis saving on application licenses. All
applications can be installed from the server reducing the cost of
installation and maintenance.

* An NLM (NetWare loadable module), which runs on top of NetWare 3.x and
4.x servers TCP/IP stack, enables all NetWare users to run Windsock
compatible TCP/IP applications without the need for a TCP/IP stack or an
address at each workstation.

* Management applications include IWare Configuration, View and Report
programs which let NetWare administrators set up and record security
firewall features for both incoming and outgoing connections.

Quarterdeck IWare InternetSuite 2.0 provides an NLM which uses a TCP/IP
protocol bundled with every NetWare 3.x and 4.x, thereby ensuring
compatibility with future NetWare upgrades. In addition, a Winsock
interface is provided for all NetWare workstations which allows users to
run Quarterdeck InternetSuite, X Windows and other third party Internet
applications including Novell's LAN Workplace 5.0.

Quarterdeck IWare InternetSuite 2.0 includes a Windows-based configuration
application which allows NetWare administrators to set up both incoming
and outgoing filters for enhanced security. Unlike other firewall
solutions, no user or group information needs to be re-keyed as it
automatically derives this information from NetWare. Alternatively,
network administrators can also set up a profile which allows access to or
from only pre-determined sites by its LAN users.

Unlike other solutions, Quarterdeck IWare InternetSuite 2.0 also includes a
report application which provides an extensive log of users' Internet
access, including failed attempts, destination sites, and data sent and
received by each user. This enables network administrators to determine
access patterns and use the supplied information for audited trails and
charge backs.

Quarterdeck IWare InternetSuite 2.0 will be available in October and is
licensed on a concurrent user basis with list prices at $1,295 for a five
user license, and $11,995 for a 100 user license. Annual subscription
service contracts, including product updates and telephone support are
available directly from Quarterdeck. NetWare administrators can call (408)
749-8172 or e-mail IWare@quarterdeck.com to request a copy of a detailed
white paper on Internet security for NetWare LANs.
