SOFTWARE PUBLISHING DEBUTS ITS MAJOR NEW RELEASE OF HARVARD GRAPHICS 4.0
FOR WINDOWS 95

The Easy Way To Create Professional Presentations

SANTA CLARA, Calif., September 25, 1995 -- Software Publishing Corporation
(Nasdaq:SPCO) today announced the availability of Harvard Graphics&#174
4.0 for Windows 95. One of the first released presentation graphics
packages that was designed exclusively for Windows 95, this 32-bit
application provides true multi-tasking, delivers enhanced performance and
provides full OLE 2.0 server and container functionality when used with
other Windows 95 products. In addition, this version offers users more
guidance with an expanded Advisor System; a powerful new image browser,
Harvard Montage&#153 Lite; and incorporates more than 25 user enhancement
requests.

"Harvard Graphics is still one of the best and easiest to learn graphics
packages in the industry," said Rob Piccioni, systems engineer of Aetna
Canada. "This version is very intuitive and the combination of new
features allows users to create great presentations in no time."

Harvard Graphics 4.0 has received full Windows 95 certification. As a
result, this version looks and works like other Windows 95 applications
through its adherence to the user interface conventions, such as tabbed
dialogs, common toolbars, right-click menus and floating ToolTips.

"As one of the first companies to develop products for Windows 95, Software
Publishing Corporation continues to demonstrate its technological
leadership," said Brad Peppard, vice president of marketing at Software
Publishing Corporation. "With Harvard Graphics 4.0, the company continues
to introduce innovations that are revolutionary to the presentation
graphics category."

Harvard Graphics 4.0 features OLE 2.0 implementation that goes beyond the
basic Windows 95 compliance, allowing full drag and drop operations
between applications. For example, the user can easily drag and drop
slides between presentations while maintaining consistency in the overall
look and feel of the presentation. "The capabilities presented by the new
drag and drop OLE 2.0 features are quick and easy to master," said Glen
Flanagan, information technology coordinator at Department of the
Interior.

Harvard Graphics 4.0 continues to be the only presentation graphics product
that offers built-in design assistance and other features that focus on
helping users create and deliver more professional- looking presentations.
In version 4.0, the expanded Harvard Graphics Advisor&#174 System now
offers users a "Fixer Mode" in the Design Checker. This "Fixer Mode" will
not only find style and design problems, but it now automates the
correction by taking the user directly to the area within the program so
that the user can correct the problem. Additional improvements to the
Advisor System were made throughout the interactive Design Checker and
more pre-designed Quick Presentations were added.

"The Advisor quickly guides a new user through the process of building
presentations and the Quick Presentations give people an excellent jump
start," said Chuck Haines, special projects analyst at U.C. Santa
Barbara.

Harvard Graphics' powerful new image browser, Harvard Montage Lite, makes
finding and applying the right clip art fast and easy. Included in this
version are more than 500 new clip art images that can be used with other
applications. Users are also able to add clip art from virtually any other
application as well. Harvard Montage Lite also allows users to visually
search and sort through the different graphic file formats and "drag and
drop" or copy and paste images into their Harvard Graphics presentations.

Based on user feedback, this latest version includes more than 25 user
enhancement requests. Principal among these is a new text engine, which
offers Superscript, Subscript and Leading functionality to the Attribute
Toolbar. The Find and Release feature now allows users to find and replace
any text string within the entire presentation. Page numbering has also
been added to the handout outputs. In addition, an Aspect Ratio Correction
feature automatically adjusts the aspect ratio of the presentation when
changing the orientation between landscape and portrait modes or output
devices.
