Plug-In Module Adds Secure Transaction Capability To Any Web Server

AUSTIN, TX (September 8, 1995)-- ViaCheck, Inc. announces the release of a
breakthrough system for Internet-based commerce. Known as the ViaCheck
Transaction System, ViaCheck adds order placement and credit card
transaction capability to any Internet Web server. The ViaCheck System
integrates with any existing security method to provide an exceptionally
high level of transaction security. ViaCheck, Inc. founders, Harold Gregg
and Casey Butler, incorporated the company in order to bring their
security concept to the on-line world.

Discussing the reasoning behind their system, Gregg lists several factors.
"The growing popularity of the Internet and the Web have made everyone
much more comfortable with getting on-line. That's the first step. The
next one is for businesses to gain access to the tools for conducting
business on-line. These tools must have certain attributes: they must be
secure; they must be 'customer friendly'; they must fit within the
company's present order processing infrastructure; and they must be
adaptable to future automation plans. We've seen nothing on the Web that
meets these requirements so effectively and economically as the ViaCheck
System."

One of the biggest obstacles to on-line commerce is the public's perception
that all transmitted information is capable of being intercepted. "I
agree," said Butler. "Even encrypted data (data which has been coded using
a secret algorithm) is vulnerable. We believe the best way to securely
transmit information on an 'open ' system like the Internet is by using
randomized data that's meaningful only to the specific computer to which
it is sent."

The ViaCheck System creates a unique code for each order form. No special
software is required for customer use. The order form is easy to use, and
information submitted by the customer is transmitted to the vendor in a
randomized format, rendering it meaningless except to the specific machine
from which that particular form originated.

The ViaCheck Transaction System also includes back-end software for vendor
order processing. The program will automatically send a confirmation
message to the customer and retain the transaction details in encrypted
format in a secure location on the server. Orders are viewed and processed
by traditional methods. Encrypted order details are exported in database
format for archival purposes. Software customizing can begin at the
database level and can extend to transaction processing, credit card
verification, accounting, order department notification, and, inventory
control.

"In the near future," says Gregg, "on-line commerce is going to expand at a
breathtaking rate. We believe that the ViaCheck System will be
instrumental in boosting confidence in the viability and benefits of
conducting business on-line."

The ViaCheck Transaction System is available for all Web servers running
under Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups, Windows '95, and Windows NT.
Macintosh and UNIX versions are scheduled for release by the end of 1995.

The price is $395 US per server. A demonstration Web page is located at
