XSOFT DIVISION OF XEROX ANNOUNCES NEW FUNCTIONALITY AND WINDOWS 95 SUPPORT
FOR POPULAR TABWORKS SOFTWARE

PALO ALTO, Calif., August 28, 1995 -- The XSoft division of Xerox
Corporation today announced TabWorks 2.0, an enhanced version of its
popular notebook-style personal document manager for Windows PCs. Key new
features and enhancements include fast and easy text search, password
protection, a new Tool Area and a greater number of user customizable
options. In addition, TabWorks 2.0 fully supports Windows 95 as well as
Windows 3.1, giving users the flexibility to upgrade to Windows 95 at
their own pace.

Millions of copies of TabWorks have been shipped by Compaq Computer
Corporation through an ongoing bundling arrangement between Compaq and
XSoft. In addition, XSoft sells TabWorks through major computer retail
outlets, including CompUSA, MicroCenter and Computer City, as well as
through the Tiger Direct and MicroWarehouse catalogs.

Designed to provide personal document management functionality within the
Windows environment, TabWorks offers an intuitive way for users to quickly
find, launch and file their documents, applications and other desktop
tools. TabWorks also eliminates the need for the user to know where a
document exists in the directory structure or even what application is
used to run it.

"Ease-of-use and productivity are two fundamental concerns for all PC
users, regardless of their level of computing experience," stated Patricia
Giberson, vice president and general manager of XSoft's Personal Document
Management line of business. "By taking advantage of the new capabilities
in Windows 95, TabWorks 2.0 provides new levels of simplicity in finding,
organizing and using documents and applications on the PC."

New Features

The key new features and functions provided by TabWorks 2.0 include:

Text Search. TabWorks 2.0 features the ability to perform document searches
by file name, application, date last modified, or specific words within
the document. This makes it easy for users to quickly locate and retrieve
their documents, often a time-consuming task.

Bookshelf. The TabWorks Bookshelf provides a graphical view of all
available books on the system. Customizable book covers, descriptive names
and lock indicators make it easy for users who share a PC to easily
identify their books.

Password Protection. The ability to assign a password to each book allows
business and home users to protect their most important files when sharing
a PC with their co-workers or family members. Tool Area. The TabWorks Tool
Area contains frequently used drag-and-drop targets such as a printer and
disk drives, as well as a Bookshelf icon for instant access to other
books. This dramatically simplifies printing selected documents as well as
moving and copying them to disks and other removable media.

File Tracking Options. Users can now specify which files (by application
and directory location) TabWorks will prompt them to save in their books.
For example, if a user wants to create new TabWorks items only for
Microsoft Word files on the "C:" drive, he or she can specify that and
will not be bothered with unnecessary prompts.

Viewing Options. With TabWorks 2.0, users have the option of viewing tabs
either horizontally or vertically. An enhanced ButtonStrip can now be
expanded from one to two rows, allowing users to easily access more
features with a single click of the mouse. In addition, TabWorks now
provides four options for viewing items on pages: large icon, small icon,
list view or detail view. This allows users to display more items per
page.

Additional new features in TabWorks 2.0 include pop-up menus, an enhanced
Table of Contents and Index. The Index shows the exact location of each
document listed and allows direct launching of documents. Intuitive new
help and tutorial features, including Bubble Help, have also been added.

Native Windows 95 Functionality

As a native Windows 95 application, TabWorks 2.0 provides fast 32-bit
processing and support for long file names, simultaneous operation of
multiple TabWorks books, drag-and-drop between books, and full integration
with the Windows 95 desktop.

TabWorks Ease-of-Use

TabWorks is easy to use because it makes the habits and needs of the person
more important than the structure of the computer. Built around the
familiar and intuitive notebook metaphor, a concept developed at Xerox
PARC (Palo Alto Research Center), TabWorks allows users to organize their
work in any way that makes sense to them -- by project, function, or even
client. Documents and applications are easily and quickly accessible on
the pages of the user's personalized book, and TabWorks can launch them
automatically.

Pricing/Availability

TabWorks 2.0 is available immediately, with versions for both Windows 3.1
and Windows 95 co-boxed in a single package for a suggested retail price
of $49. TabWorks 1.x users who purchase version 2.0 by February 29, 1996
will receive a $10 rebate. Customers wishing to purchase the software
directly through XSoft may call 800-909-4446 or 510-412-1426.
