                            CHRONICLES OF SLUMPER

I first talked to the old man back in my younger years. Came across a
message he left in The Complex. It mentioned the fact that he know all the
old stories of all the oldest Warriors. Since these stories are a hobby of
mine I thought it would be interesting to hear them and put them down for
those of you that might be interested in reading them. He is still out and
about in the Wastelands if you are lucky enough to find him, he is full of
advice and help.
Who he is, or what he is I will leave for you to decide. There are many
conflicting stories. Sometimes he will claim to be the creator of The
Complex, and sometimes he will claim to be The Oracle. (Usually it depends
on how drunk he is at the time.) I will leave the question of his identity
for someone else to solve. All I am going to do here is put to pen the
stories he tells as they were given to me.

                               Story 1
"Do you remember how it was in the old days? I don't mean these later
days since the lower 3 levels of the world were discovered. I'm talking
about the OLD days when it was thought by one and all that the world had
been destroyed and reduced to 2 levels of radioactive waste and destruction."
"Ah yes, I see a few of you remember those days. Very few I am sorry to
note. Most of you were not around at that time. And some of you will not make
it through the next few months either. You will learn, (if you haven't
alreay), that it is a very dangereous world out there and only the brave
and devious survive.
"But I digress. My story begins almost in the begining (or ending
depending on how you look at it) of the world. There once was a young man
who decided to see the world outside The Complex. And being a young and
still somewhat naive about life, thought that only the Hydrites and the
monsters left by them were the only enemy. Yes, that's right! Believe it
or not, he even thought that since he was still a young warrior the old
timers would be willing to show him the ropes and help him survive.
"After his first day in the Wastelands he camped out. Tired, but with a
sense of accomplishment. He was well on his way to becoming a great Hero.
But... to his astonishmentand disbelief, when he woke up the next morning,
he had been attacked and killed by one of his "fellow" earthlings. What a
betrayal! The traitor not only killed him, but stole all of his essentials!
"It was at this point that he felt the beginings of a great and terrible
rage. Even now, I remember how his eyes flashed, and his face froze into a
mask of such hate and rage, it was like looking into the pits of hell.
Brrrr... I tell you it still gives me the chills just thinking about it.
"Oh by the way, who's buying the next round? Storytelling is very dry
work ya know. Ahhh thank you. It pays to show respect for your elders
sonny. Now where was I? Oh yes...
"As I was saying, after being attacked by traitors, stripped and left for
dead, he decide then and there to go back to The Complex and learn something
about these people!
"So he gathered together 2 of other Warriors and made a blood pact with
them. Together the 3 of them would team up and push the limits of imagination
in the world. They would go forth and break all the rules and set new limits
to this new world of theirs. Their purpose? To go forth and destroy ALL the
Hydrites and monsters. They would carry the fight to Overkill himself and
destroy him also. BUT also, along with those monsters, they would harrass,
maim, and destroy all "traitors to humanity." "LET ALL BEWARE!"
"And so they left The Complex for the Wastelands. Three mighty Warriors.
One of them, although very young in age, was an excellent scout and tracker.
Although young, his persistance on the trail became legendary. Face, or the
Faceman, as he was known to a privalaged few, could follow a trail over bare
rocks, or in a running stream. There was nowhere they could hide that he
could not find.
"And then there was Gregor. His ability of finding and making money
quicker than was thought possible, also became legendary. Even to this
day I hear accusations of help by "the sysop" in places. Or even, that he
IS "the sysop" Ha Ha Ha. Mostly made by warriors that do not and cannot
survive for long. Or those that are not smart enough to listen to the
words of experience from veteren Warriors.
"And then there was Slumper. Ahh yes. I see that some of you have
heard that name. He is a Warrior that will go down in ALL the history
books. A Warrior that truly lived only for the next kill. A true artist
in assasination. He loved them all. The slow radiation burn. The quick
beheading. The fight to the death. The thumper attack. Steal their
weapons and then kill them. He had a thousand ways to kill and used
them all. Truly his name alone put the fear of death into theives and
traitors alike. It has even been said that if you shouted his name loud
enough at monsters, the fear of him would cause them to fall over dead. And
Overkill himself has tried a dozen times or more to kill him. When that
didn't work he even tried to buy him off!
"Now the plans were made so the 3 of them proceeded to implement them.
After many fierce battles they had taken over control of three quarters of
the world. There were at this time only 2 warriors standing between them
and the total domination of the known world. They had made their plans and
then followed through with such flair and style that the entire world was
left speechless. They had changed the course of history and had shown
the entire world just what 3 Warriors could accomplish.
