Subject: Errors Printing Phonebooks To WinFax

Situation:
==========
You are printing a WinFax phonebook with the WinFax printer option
selected, and errors occur in one of the following situations:

  - Enabling the Send option in the Cover Page section of the Send Fax
    dialog produces the message "Error opening cover page file."
  - Enabling the Save to File or Add options in the Attachments section
    of the Send Fax dialog produces the message "Error initializing
    attachments database -- 1."

Solution:
=========
If you must include a cover page or attachments with your WinFax
phonebook:

1. Export the phonebook to an ASCII format file (see Chapter 4 of the
    WinFax PRO User's Guide).

2. Import the ASCII file to a text editor, such as Windows Notepad.

3. Print the file to WinFax, and select the cover page or attachments
    to include in the fax.

To save the phonebook as a WinFax attachment file:

1. Enable Save to File in the Send Fax dialog.

2. Click OK when the initializing attachments database mesage appears.

3. Disable the Add to attachment list option in the Save To File dialog.

4. Type a prefix in the File Prefix field (maximum five characters) to
    identify the pages of the attachment.

5. If necessary, click on Change Directory to specify a different
    storage directory from the default data directory shown.

6.  Click on OK.

    WinFax creates an attachment file for each page of your document,
    based on the file prefix you specify. For example, if you save a
    three page document using "MYDOC" as the file prefix, WinFax creates
    the attachments "MYDOC001.FXS", "MYDOC002.FXS" and "MYDOC003.FXS" in
    the specified data directory.

7. For details on adding attachment files to the Fax Attachments dialog,
    see Managing Attachments in Chapter 8 of the WinFax PRO User's Guide.
