ARLD060 Committees Vote Results

The Awards Committee has voted 5 to 2 against a DXAC recommendation
that would set a minimum size for new DXCC countries. Those voting
against shared the feeling that a --minimum size-- rule was not
needed.

Awards Committee Chairman, Chuck Hutchinson, K8CH, shared the
results with DXAC Chairman, Bob Beatty, W4VQ, immediately after the
vote. Standard Operating Procedure for the committees allows the
DXAC to resubmit a recommendation (with or without changes) on
appeal, and Chairman Beatty has announced his intention to do that.

Individuals may send comments to ARRL HQ. Comments addressed to the
DXAC will be read by members of both committees.

DXAC Chairman Beatty has declared a moratorium on new DXCC country
petitions that may be affected by a minimum size rule. This
moratorium will continue until such time as the deliberations on
this issue are complete.
