DX News, SM3CVM, SM0CNS/DU7 and SP5EWY for the following DX information.

160 METERS (HOT HOT HOT). This band has been pleasing many. Stations from
stateside have been working new ones between 0300 and 0730z. Give a listen.

A7, QATAR. Tom, DL9FCQ, will be active January 14-27th. No callsign
was mentioned, but he plans to concentrate on CW (during his evening)
on 40-10 meters. QSL to CBA.

BY, CHINA. Tom, SM0CNS/DU7 (editor of DX & IOTA Tidbits), reports that
Dieter, DJ7BU, operates BY1PK on 160 meters and will do so until the
end of the year. There have been no QSNs reported on the Ohio/Penn
Network as of yet.

DU, CEBU ISLAND (IOTA OC-129), PHILIPPINES. Tom is active as SM0CNS/DU7
on all bands (80-10 meters) mainly CW, but can do SSB or RTTY on request.
He will also be active on 160 meters very soon. Tom will be on Cebu until
the end of 1995. QSL via Manila bureau or direct: Thomas Bevenheim,
Ronda, CEBU 6034, Philippines.

FT5X, KERGUELEN ISLAND. Pierre, FT5XJ (F5NLL), was to leave the island
on December 15th, but was heard on the 18th (DX net) 14226 kHz at 1415z.
If Pierre departs later than announced, he will return to the island to
be active between January and March of 1995.

H44, SOLOMON ISLANDS. Norbert/DJ9RB and Bernhard/DL2GAC will be active
from here the second half of January 1995. Activity will be on CW, SSB,
Pactor and with emphasize on low bands. QSL via their home calls.

KP5, DESECHEO. AB4JI who planned a trip to KP5 last year, and after
receiving approval, it was rescinded because of several guerilla bands
on the island, and the authorities could not be held responsible for
anyone's safety. Ray has recently inquired again on this matter, and the
current position is that no amateur radio is allowed from KP5 at the
moment. The authorities would not say one way or the other if there are
presently people on the island, just a flat denial of operation from
there.

QSL ROUTE. Daniel, 3A2LZ, reports the correct QSL route for his operations
as 3A2LZ/0S0D and IK/3A2LZ/1P0D from Seborga is: Daniel Plett, B.P 349,
MC98007 Monaco. He has the /0S0D QSLs ready but he is waiting for the
/1P0D QSLs to come from the printer.

SPECIAL EVENT STATION. Members of the Jemtlands Amateur Radio Club
(SK3JR), will be promoting Sweden as a possible candidate to hold the
Olympic Winter Games in the year of 2002. Their special callsign will be
7S3OWG (Olympic Winter Games) and will be active from January 1st until
June 16th. The station will mainly be active on CW but there will be some
activity on the other modes and some participation in major contests.
QSL via SM3CVM.

ZC6B, GHAZA. OPDX received a FAX from Arie Surkiss (4X6UO), HF Manager
of the I.A.R.C. stating the following: "According to the Israeli Ministry
of Communication, Spectrum Manager Division, the Ministry has not issued
such a prefix and there is no Israeli involvement in this operation. As
far as I know the ITU has not issued a prefix to Ghaza or Jericho."
Meanwhile, Larry Price, W4RA (IARU Secretary), reports receiving a FAX
from the "Palestine Amateur Radio Association", with information which
may shed some light on the callsign being used. The FAX contained a
newpaper article dated December 12, 1994 from the "Al Quds Newspaper"
stating that the call was issued in 1948 to Dr. Sami Tarazi but never
used because of the war that broke out.
Just before going to print, OPDX received an announcement stating that
the Palestine Amateur Radio Club (Association) has invited JA1UT and JA3UB
to help set up a station and operate next week. They will use their home
calls /GAZA.
