Introduction

Spades has always been one of my favorite card games, and , in my opinion,
I'm a pretty good player. I did my best to instill my knowledge of the
game into this program so that it will be challenging. You, of course,
will be the final judge of how well I did.

Spades is Shareware. Feel free to pass the shareware evaluation version
(SPADE2.ZIP) along to anybody you see fit, or upload it to any BBS you
want. All I ask is that you pass the ZIP file along with out altering its
contents in any way.

If you are using the shareware evaluation copy of Spades you can play the
game for 21 days to evaluate it. At the end of that evaluation period you
must either register your copy or remove the game from your system.

You can register Spades in one of two ways. First, by sending a check or
money order to:

		Greg DeBacker
		638 San Juan Av.
		Santa Cruz, CA
			95065

Or, if you are a member of CompuServe, you can use their software
registration forum (GO SWREG). Once there, use SWREG # 6808 and follow
the on screen instructions.

The cost of registration is $12.50. If you are located outside of the
US, Mexico, or Canada add an additional $2.00 to cover shipping.

See the Q & A section in the help file for the above registration
informtaion along with the benifits of registering.

Installation

Aside from the ZIP file SPADE2.ZIP you will need one other file to
successfully install and run Spades. You will need:

	VBRUN300.DLL

VBRUN300.DLL is the run-time module needed to run all programs written in
the language Visual Basic. VBRUN300.DLL can be found on all on-line
services. It is usually stored as VBRUN3.ZIP. Once you have VBRUN300.DLL put
this file in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

Installing Spades is pretty easy. First, create a new directory on you
hard drive and put all the files from SPADE2.ZIP into this directory. To
start the game double click on SPADES.EXE. If you want to create a Program
Group and Icons for Windows 3.1, or a Program Folder for Windows 95 you
can run the SETUP.EXE program to do this.

The Setup program will not copy any files anywhere, it simply gives you
an easy way to create Program Groups or Folders. When you start Setup you
will see a list of the Program Groups already in Windows. You can chose
to have the Spades icons put into one of those groups or type in the name
of a new Group or Folder in the text box above.
