      Title: Irish Bread
 Categories: Breads
   Servings:  4

  2 1/2 c  All-purpose flour                   1 lg Egg
      2 ts Baking powder                   1 1/2 c  Buttermilk
      1 ts Salt                                1 c  Raisins
    1/2 ts Baking soda                       1/2 c  Currants
    1/4 c  Butter/margarine                    1 tb Caraway seeds
    1/2 c  Sugar

  Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda.  cream the
  butter and sugar.  Mix well into dry ingredients.  Fold in raisins,
  currants and caraway seeds.  Add beaten egg and buttermilk.  Mix with
  large spoon until ingredients are well-moistened.  Pour into 1 1/2 qt.
  baking dish (sprayed with non-stick cooking oil).  Brush withmelted
  butter.  Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.  Reduce to 325 degrees for 30
  minutes longer.

  Note:  This bread is good for breakfast toast.  For easier toasting, usa a
  long bar pan for baking.
