		****** TEST - FSPRO.EXE ******

The Joystick Test and Centering program on this disk, FSPRO.EXE,
is also a useful program to copy to your boot disk. It provides a quick
means for setting the trim tabs to center your joystick. Once your
joystick is centered, small changes in the trim settings can be made
to recenter the joystick.

While in the test, stir the stick to all four corners to make sure
the maximum and minimum ranges of the joystick are reached, repeat the
trim adjustment as necessary. If you find the joystick range will not go
full right or down, simply adjust the trims a little left and up. Then
press "K" to recenter the cross-hairs. The joystick will now reach
full range.
-
		     ***** Troubleshooting ******

If you can only get buttons One, Two, and View Left to work,
this means that your gameport only supports one joystick. You will
have to install a gamecard that supports two joysticks, such as the
CH Products GAMECARD 3 AUTOMATIC.

If you get the error message "Please make sure that the Flight
Stick Pro is plugged in and try again", and you have it plugged in.
This may mean that your gameport does not support two joysticks, which
is necessary for correct operation of FLIGHTSTICK PRO. A conflict
between two different gameports may also cause this error.

Only one active gameport is allowed in the computer. If you have
more than one gameport on separate boards (such as on an I/O board and
on a sound board), one of these gameports will have to be disabled.
(contact the manufacturer of your computer or sound board for help
in disabling a gameport).
-
		    ****** JCENTER.EXE ******

IF you have trouble running the test " T " from the menu, try running
"JCENTER" from the command line prompt ( a:jcenter ) or ( b:jcenter ) ENTER,
or "J" form the menu.
JCENTER is a centering program that will allow you to test your
joysticks X and Y axis', throttle and buttons. The FLIGHTSTICK PRO uses
different combinations of the A and B joystick functions.
They are as follows: A B
				 BTN1 BTN2 BTN1 BTN2
	   (Trigger) Button 1 -- ON
(Left BTN) Button 2 -- ON
(Right BTN) Button 3 -- ON
(Bottom BTN) Button 4 -- ON
4-Way Switch Left -- ON ON
4-Way Switch Right -- ON ON ON
4-Way Switch Up -- ON ON ON ON
4-Way Switch Down -- ON ON ON

The Throttle will operate the Y-axis of Joystick B

		     ***** MSD.exe ******

If you have DOS 6.0+ or WINDOWS 3.1+, then you have Microsoft
Diagnostics (MSD). This program can be very useful in detecting the
presence of gameports in your computer. To run MSD do the following:

 (1) Type MSD at the DOS prompt ( C:\> ) or the DOS directory
( C:\DOS> ) or the WINDOWS directory ( C:\WINDOWS\> ) and press Enter.

 (2) When the menu appears select "Other Adapters" with your mouse
or press 'A' on the keyboard.

You should see the message "Gameport Detected" with a listing
for each channel of joystick A and joystick B. Note that the Buttons
should say "ON" when no joystick buttons are being pressed and "OFF"
when the corresponding buttons are being pressed. To test buttons
you must be pressing the button you want to test when you select
"Other Adapters". If you press "Esc" it will return you to the menu
screen, you must toggle between the two screens to test all functions.
-
			  (MSD Test Continued)

If the message "Gameport Not Detected" appears then you either
don't have your gameport enabled or you may have more then one gameport
active in your computer and MSD is confused by the conflict.

To fix this problem you must consult the appropiate documentation for
each card on which your gameport(s) reside. You must disable all
gameports besides the ONE and only ONE being used. If you are sure
there is only one gameport then check to see that it is enabled.

Remember that most sound cards have gameports on them that are usually
better than most Multi-IO board gameports. Although, the best gameports
are speed adjustable, like the CH Products GAMECARD 3 AUTOMATIC, with all
other gameports disabled.

	    ****** FLIGHT SIMULATOR 4 DRIVERS ******

Selecting "4" (FS4PATCH) from JMENU will run FS4PATCH.EXE which will
install the necessary drivers into Flight Simulator 4.0. You must already
have Microsoft Flight Simulator Version 4.0 (TM) on your hard drive to
install this FLIGHTSTICK PRO driver into it.

At the prompt input the current location of FS4 and the drivers will be
installed for you.

    * NOTE: This driver is for Microsoft Flight Simulator 4.0 ONLY !

Control Summary - Flight Sim 4

	4-way switch Cockpit Views
	Trigger Brakes
	Button 2 Flaps Down
	Button 3 Flaps Up
	Button 4 Gear up/down
-
****** MANUAL INSTALLATION OF FLIGHT SIMULATOR 4.0 DRIVERS ******

If after installing the FLIGHTSTICK PRO drivers to Flight Sim 4.0
you do not get the extra button functions, the install procedure (Fltsim
"4" from JMENU) may not have been successful. If this is the case, you
will have to do a manual install as follows:
CAUTION: If you have never edited a file we suggest you call our
	    TECHNICAL SUPPORT for assistance!

1. From the FS4 subdirectory, make a backup of the original file.
	    COPY CONFIG.FS4 CONFIG.BAK

2. Copy FLIGHTSTICK PRO driver files to the FS4 Subdirectory.
	    COPY A:\FSP.DRV
	    COPY A:\FSPB.DRV

3. Edit CONFIG.FS4 file to include FSP.DRV to the first line of the file
and save. Run Flight Simulator and the all buttons should work.

			       ( MORE )
-

If you are still having problems or the program locks up then
substitute FSPB.DRV for FSP.DRV in the CONFIG.FS4 File. You may have
Flight Simulator version FS4.0b.

The installation program assumes that you have version FS4.0 and if you
install to version FS4.0b it will not work.

Once you get the buttons working properly you can then delete the backup
CONFIG.FS4 file you created, since it will no longer be needed.
-
	       ****** FLIGHT SIMULATOR 5.0 DRIVER ******

Selecting "5" (FS5PATCH) from JMENU will run FS5PATCH.EXE which will
install the necessary drivers into Microsoft Flight Simulator Version
5.0, 5.0a or 5.1 (TM). You must already have Microsoft Flight Simulator
version 5.0 or 5.1 on your hard drive to install this FLIGHTSTICK PRO
driver into it.

At the prompt input the current location of FS5 and the driver will be
installed for you.

    * NOTE: This driver is for Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0 ONLY !

Control Summary - Flight Sim 5

	4-way switch Cockpit Views
	Trigger Brakes
	Button 2 Flaps Down
	Button 3 Gear up/down
	Button 4 Flaps Up

****** JOYSTICK SETUP FOR FLIGHT SIMULATOR 5.0 and 5.1 ******

Note: Proper joystick selection in F/S 5.0 is a must or the joystick
will not work. To setup the joystick in Flight Simulator 5.0 select
"Options" then "Preferences" and then "Joystick". Select the following:
   JOYSTICK 1 - [AILERON & ELEVATOR] JOYSTICK 2 - [THROTTLE ONLY]

Then, with the throttle wheel on the joystick rolled back toward you,
select "CALIBRATE" and then "OK". This will bring up a PREFERENCES ALERT
if changes were made to the joystick configuration. Next select "EXIT
FLIGHT SIMULATOR & RESTART", the simulator will restart (this may vary for
version 5.0a, just follow the directions on the screen).
To RECALIBRATE inside the simulator release the joystick, pull the
throttle back toward you and press "K" on the keyboard.
If you continue to have problems, try following the above directions
but select "OFF" for JOYSTICK 2 instead of "THROTTLE ONLY". If this works,
then your gameport does not support 2 joysticks as is required for proper
operation of the FLIGHTSTICK PRO or you may have a conflict with another
gameport.

		    ****** XWING / TIE FIGHTER ******

XWING and TIE FIGHTER do not support the use of the throttle wheel
on the FLIGHTSTICK PRO and the Four-way switch does not give pilot views
as do most other simulators. LucasArts assigned the following functions
to the buttons and four-way switch:

		     BUTTON FUNCTION
		   ---------- ------------
		Trigger (button 1) - - Fires Weapons
	Top Left Button (button 2) - - Target Select/Roll
Button 2 and Stick Y-axis - (Throttle for TIE FIGHTER Only)
Top Right Button (button 3) - - Selects Next Closest Target
	  Middle Button (button 4) - - Cockpit On/Off
		Four-way Switch Up - - Weapons Select
	      Four-way Switch Down - - Shield (Forward/Even/Rear)
Four-way Switch Left - - Roll and Fire Weapons
Four-way Switch Right - - Transfer Power to Shield
-
****** ACES OVER EUROPE (Joystick Setup) ******

To setup ACES OVER EUROPE(TM) by Dynamix for use with the FLIGHTSTICK
PRO, Select "Other Options" from the main menu, then "Preferences" and
choose the following:

	       JOYSTICK: " ON " MOUSE: " ON "

		 FLIGHT: " FLIGHTSTICK PRO "
RUDDER: " KEYBOARD " (or other appropriate device)
	       THROTTLE: " SLIDER "

You then must select "CALIBRATE", a sub-menu will appear with
FLIGHTSTICK PRO and SLIDER in it. Highlight FLIGHTSTICK PRO then
choose "ACCEPT" and follow the directions on the screen. Then select
"CALIBRATE" again and this time highlight SLIDER and choose "ACCEPT"
and follow the directions on the screen. Check these options and
calibrate before every flight session for best results.
"ACCEPT" again will get you back to the MAIN MENU.

Some games have support for four (4) buttons but not eight (8). You can
use the FLIGHTSTICK PRO as a four button joystick, but in most cases using
the 4-way switch on the FLIGHTSTICK PRO will confuse the game. These games
will see the 4-way switch as a multi-button press. For example, pushing the
4-way switch to the left will press both buttons 1 and 2 together. In some
cases this could be disired, so you may want to try it. Some of the games
that support 4 buttons and or the 4-way switch left feature include:

                 ***** WINDOWS 95 JOYSTICK SETUP *****

Microsoft Windows 95 has a joystick drivers written into it for the
FLIGHTSTICK PRO. The driver will not make the joystick work for all
Windows 95 applications, it will only work for the applications that choose
to use the driver like some Windows 95 compatible games. The only way to
know for sure is to consult the game you are planning to use. The game or
application must support the use of a joystick to allow the FLIGHTSTICK PRO
to work in it. Simply being a Windows 95 application does not assure
joystick compatibility.

To setup the FLIGHTSTICK PRO driver in Microsoft Windows 95, perform the
following:

1. From Windows 95 click on 'Start'.

2. Goto 'Settings' and click on 'Control Panel'.

                             ( More )
-
3. Then double click on the 'Joystick' icon.

Note: If the a message appears telling you that "your joystick is not
properly attached - make sure you have a gamecard driver installed"
you will need to jump down to the section below entitled ADDING A
GAMEPORT TO WINDOWS 95, otherwise continue to step 4.

4. Under 'Joystick selection' select "CH Flightstick Pro".

5. Then choose 'Calibrate' and follow the directions on the screen for
Joystick & Throttle. The indicators may not reach their full travel,
this may be O.K. (see step 6).

6. Choose 'Test' to test the joystick calibration and buttons. The
indicators should reach their full travel, if not you may need a speed
adjustable gamecard. If you are already using a speed adjustable
gamecard, you may need to adjust it for larger joystick values.

7. Select 'OK' then 'Finish'.
-
                 ***** ADDING A GAMEPORT TO WINDOWS 95 *****

Windows 95 will try to auto-detect gameports in you system, but if it
fails to do so you will have to add it. If when you open the 'Joystick'
icon in the 'Control panel' you get a message telling you that your joystick
is not properly attached - make sure you have a gamecard driver installed,
you will have to install one by following these directions:

1. From Windows 95 select 'Start'.

2. Goto 'Settings' and click on 'Control Panel'

3. Double click on 'Add new hardware'.

4. Click on 'Next'.

5. Click on 'No'.

                                 ( More )
-
6. Click on 'Next'.

7. Scroll down the hardware and double click on "sound, video and game
    controllers".

8. Scroll down the selections and double click on "Microsoft".

9. Double click on 'Gameport Joystick'

10. Click on 'Next', then click on 'Finish'.

11. Select 'Yes' when asked to shut down Windows; Windows will restart.
Now follow the directions above for WINDOWS 95 JOYSTICK SETUP.

		      ***** GREEN PC USERS *****

If your computer is considered a "GREEN PC" which means your computer
has a CPU power saving mode, turn it off. In most cases, the power saving
mode will actually change your CPU speed and or the voltage through it to
a lower rate at times when there is not much action. This will cause the
joystick to go crazy since, the process of reading the joystick position
is totally timing dependent.

Turn off all GREEN PC or Power Saving modes in the computer. See your
computer documentation or call your computer dealer/manufacturer for
assistance.

			 ****** DONE ******

When you type Q to quit JMENU, a colorful message is shown before
going to DOS. If you hit Enter twice after the "Q" this screen will
only last one second. You may also press ESC to exit from the menu.
