                Setting your modem to AutoAnswer

For most applications (PC etc) the modem requires &C1&D2 set, and for
AA 'S0=1'. Type AT&F&C1&D2S0=1&W (&F restores to factory defaults, &W is
optional, saves to NV ram so it powers up in AA). Macs (and some terminal-
type computers) require &D0 (default), so do not put &D2 in the string.
Some may even require &C0 (tho' I cannot say what may).

For some devices or applications you will need to connect the modem to
a computer/terminal to set & save the commands. You commonly need Terminal
software (modem software) to 'talk' to the modem.
