README ========================================================
This diskette contains a database door listing "Places to Stay in
the Northeast" it is distributed directly to about 1,000 BBS's.
It allows people to get full descriptions of Inns, Bed &
Breakfasts, Motels, Seasonal Rentals, and the like. Anyone can
call us to get their place listed, and the cost ($50 for a single
unit, $65 for multiples) for a YEAR is MUCH lower than print
media reaching the same size audience. YOU get a COMMISSION on
any listings placed by your users (see below).

Packing list:
Data files (These end in NTX, DBF, DBT)
     Search program (PLACES.EXE)
     README file (this file)
     Sample Batch File (INFOBORD)
     A registration for (REGISTER)
A sample BLURB to put up to announce the board

To install the program on PCBOARD (other boards see below):
1. Create a directory for all the programs
     (\pcb\doors\infobord\ suggested)
2. Copy all the files there (or unzip them there)
3. Edit INFOBORD to reflect your actual path names. See the
instructions in INFOBORD. You can provide a door
information file in either DOOR.SYS or DORINFOx.DEF format.
4. In the PCBoard door definition file, enter INFOBORD and the
     path.
5. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, PLEASE CALL. 617-592-6675 voice or
     617-581-5287 modem.

To install this door on other boards (e.g. WILDCAT, RBBS):
1. This door has been installed on both WILDCAT and RBBS. It
should work on any BBS that runs doors. We haven't done the
installation but people tell us it's easy.
2. Follow the instructions above for PCBoard, but you will
probably have to rename INFOBORD to INFOBORD.BAT and tell
your BBS to run it as a door. This will be just like any
other doors you've installed, the only thing to be aware of
are the parameters: see INFOBORD for those.

Known problems:
We've fixed all the ones we know about, please let us know
     if you encounter any.

We suggest you identify this door as "Infoboard Places to Stay".
You could put up a bulletin announcing the database's existence.
After everybody knows it is there, you might leave up a one line
announcement (we're not exactly disinterested, of course).

How commissions work: When someone calls us to place a listing we
ask them the name and phone number of the board they saw the
listing on. We then match the phone number to the board and
credit you for the commission. We will be distributing
commissions semi-annually (about every 6 months). Commissions
are 25% of the listing price - you'll get over $15 on every
listing in 1993 just for putting the door on your system. In
order for us to match orders you MUST return the registration
form (REGISTER), we match by phone number and/or board name.

If you are proactive and want to solicit listings we will pay
you a 50% commission ($32.50) for every listing placed. Please
call to discuss this program.

We are working on a "Software Products" database which will carry
descriptions of literally thousands of software products. That
too will pay you commissions and will be coming out in about 3
months. See REGISTER for our modem and fax numbers.
