Docs for fhead.ppe

These are a programs I wrote that shows users the directory information
above each area. It does this by getting the total files and sizes from
the dirxx file. To speed up the process, it creates a file 'fhead.x' in
your ppe directory which contains information about that area. It will
only update this file if the dirxx file has been updated. There is no
maintance required by the sysop. It will update these automatically.

The first time you run this, or when you update an area, it will take a few
seconds before showing the file list. After you (or a user) types 'f 1' it
will update or create the reference file. After that, if it the area is the
same as last time a listing has looked at, it will not pause, it will be
lightning fast.

Setting it up, really easy.

Copy the fhead.ppe, fhead.cnf to your ppe directory.

-fhead.ppe

This is the program that runs whenever a file dir is viewed
you must put it in the first line of each dir file. You can edit them
with a text editor of pcbfiler. The execution line might look like this:

            !c:\ppe\fhead.ppe 1

The number after the ppe file is what tells the ppe which area this is and
where the dir file is. This is all listed in the .cnf file described
below.

-fhead.cnf

This is the configuration file for fhead.ppe. The first line is
your bbs name. The second line is your BBS phone number, in the
  format (000)000-0000.

The next lines are you file area and there paths. Just start out listing
them, one on each line. The path to the dirxx file and then what this
area name is. Example in the .cnf file. Now then this is where you
get the numbers for the fhead.ppe in the dir. You first entry will
be one, the second will be 2 and so forth.

You can list all your conferences in the one configuration file, just
specify the correct path to each dirxx file.

Of course, all these files must be in the same directory. It doesn't
matter which directory it is.

I am releasing this as shareware. Just like the other's. A nominal fee
of $10.00 will get you the source and any updates, and a mailing of new
ppe's every month with what is new. If interested, mail check or money
order to:
