What is TimeSheet?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TimeSheet is a Windows Program to be used by anyone wishing to keep track
of the amount of time used to complete a project. Anyone who bills time
by the hour should find this program very useful. The program provides
information on computer usage time and acts as a stopwatch for timing
any portions of a project which is not computer related.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
System Requirements for TimeSheet:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TimeSheet is a Windows program and runs on either version 3 or 3.1 .
TimeSheet requires Windows standard or enhanced modes to operate.
TimeSheet requires a minimum of 500,000 kilobytes of free disk space.
More space may be required as your data file grows.
TimeSheet requires VGA or better display and will work with either color
or VGA black & white.
TimeSheet should work on all screen display sizes currently supported
by Windows.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing the TimeSheet program:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the Windows program loaded, insert the floppy disk in the drive.
In Program Manager at the top left of the menu bar click on File .
Then choose Run from the drop down menu. In the text box type:

	A:\Install ,Press Enter-

     or if appropriate:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Short Tutorial for using TimeSheet:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Run TimeSheet. Using the arrow shaped mouse pointer, click once on the
Project Window entry for Project 2. The line should change to black
showing this line as the highlighted, chosen project.

2. Use the mouse pointer to click once on Modify on the Menu Bar.
The bottom of the screen will change to show the selection of Project 2
with 2 hours and 2 minutes as the project to modify. First use the keyboard
delete key to remove the text Project 2. Type Davis Contract and press the
enter key. The cursor moves to the hours window. Use the delete key to remove
the 2 and replace it with zero. Press enter. Remove the 2 minutes and replace
with another zero. Use the mouse pointer to press the button Change Project
or simply press the enter key. You have now modified Project 2 to read:
Davis Contract with 0 hours and 0 minutes of time.

3. With the Davis Contract highlighted in the Project Window, use the
mouse pointer to click once on the Computer Button. The TimeSheet
screen will disappear. The menu bar at the top of the Program Manager
window will flash. This reminds you that TimeSheet is active and
in a waiting mode. The TimeSheet icon will be the highlighted icon.
Single click on any other icon to move the focus away from TimeSheet. Then
using a watch or a clock with a second hand note the time to the second
and immediately double click start any program icon
(Remember! Do not click on the TimeSheet icon because it is already running
in the background.)

4. Watch the clock. Wait 65 seconds. Then Exit this program.

5. TimeSheet will automatically restart. The Project Window should
have the Davis Contract highlighted in black. The Hours Window
will show 0 and the Minutes Window will show the 1 minute that
you used in the program you just started and ended.

6. Now use the mouse pointer to highlight Project 3. The Project Window
will highlight Project 3 in black. The Hours Window will show 3 hours and
the Minutes Window will show 3 minutes. Chose Delete from the Menu Bar.
Project 3 will disappear.

7. Now chose Add from the Menu Bar. The bottom of the screen will show
a blank text box with 0 hours and 0 minutes. Type Jones Job in the text box
and use the mouse pointer to single click on the Add Project button. The Add
box will disappear. The Project Window will now show the Jones Job as the
last entry. Jones Job should be highlighted in black.

8. Use the mouse pointer to single click on the Clock button. The TimeSheet
screen will disappear. A screen saver screen will appear. This screen can be
left on for long periods without burn-in damage to your monitor. Look at the
time entry beneath the Jones Job line. This line shows how long this screen
has been on. Use this screen to time any work that requires a timer but is
not work done on the computer. Leave this screen on until this line
shows 2 minutes. Then press any keyboard key or the right mouse button.
The regular TimeSheet screen will return. The Jones Job entry in the
Project Window will now show 2 minutes elapsed time.

9. Use the mouse pointer to highlight the Davis Contract entry.
Notice that when the Davis Contract entry is highlighted the
hours and minutes windows changes to 1 minute. Now use the
mouse pointer to again highlight the Jones Job. Notice that the
hours and minutes windows show 0 hours and 2 minutes.

10. Highlight the Davis Contract entry in the Project Window again.
Then chose Quit from the Menu Bar. TimeSheet will end at this point.
Now restart TimeSheet by double-clicking the icon. TimeSheet's Project Window
will again show the Davis Contract as the chosen, highlighted entry.
All file saving is handled automatically by TimeSheet.
TimeSheet never forgets anything.

This tutorial demonstrates each of the major functions of the
TimeSheet program.

The Computer Button is used to time work done on the computer by timing
the use of any Windows program.

The Clock Button is used as an automatic stopwatch timer for any work
that is not done on the computer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This button is used to keep track of non-computer time.

Clicking once on the Clock button starts a screen saver timer.
You may exit this screen at any time by clicking the mouse button
or pressing any keyboard key. The amount of time that elapsed while
this screen was active will be added to your project upon return
to the regular TimeSheet screen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Project Window:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You cannot type directly in this window. All times kept by
the Computer button and the Clock button are shown

from the Menu above the Project Window. Click the mouse pointer
on the section of the time or date you wish to change.
Use the up or down arrows to the left of either box to increase
or decrease the current setting.

A setting may also be changed by selecting the section,

to be changed. The number should change to highlighted text.
Type in the correction to replace the highlighted text.

Closing the Date and Time Change Box involves closing two boxes.
Pressing the Enter key or clicking on the OK button accepts any changes
and closes the first box. Then either select the square box drop-down menu
in the upper left corner and chose Close or press the Alt-F4 keys
simultaneously.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Automatically Starting TimeSheet:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you find that you use TimeSheet all the time, you may wish to run TimeSheet
automatically when windows starts. This can be accomplished
in at least three ways.

1. If you start Windows in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file,
change the line that starts Windows from:

	WIN to read WIN C:\TS\TS.EXE

This will start TimeSheet each time you start your computer and it
reads the AUTOEXEC.BAT file. If you close Windows and return by typing
Win alone, TimeSheet will not start with Windows.

2. You could edit the WIN.INI file to automatically run TimeSheet.

In the first section at the top of WIN.INI labeled [Windows]
locate the line that reads run= and change the line to read:

     run=C:\TS\TS.EXE

This method starts TimeSheet each and every time Windows starts.

3. If you are using Windows 3.1 simply drag the TimeSheet icon into the
StartUp Group Window. This also starts TimeSheet each time Windows begins.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TimeSheet and screen savers:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TimeSheet does not like screen savers. Please do not run screen savers
while you use TimeSheet. Screen savers slow down Time Clock's ability
to work efficiently with Window's Program Manager. Besides, TimeSheet
has a screen saver built into the program. If you need a screen saver,
just click the Clock button. If you don't need to time the use of the
screen saver, simply start with a project with 0 hours and 0 minutes
and modify the project back to 0 hours and 0 minutes when you finish.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keeping Time for Multiple Programs with TimeSheet:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IT'S EASIER TO USE TIMESHEET IF YOU DO ONLY ONE THING AT A TIME!

If you have very much experience with Windows, you know that you can start
and run several programs at the same time. Although it is easier to use
TimeSheet if you only work with one program at a time. You can work with
several programs at once. TimeSheet will then time the use of the group.
It doesn't matter what order you start the group of program or what order you
exit each program. TimeSheet will return when all the programs you started
have been closed. In the situation of working with multiple programs;
TimeSheet performs timekeeping services for the whole group not just
the first program you start.

TimeSheet will only return when all the programs you started are closed.
You cannot switch to TimeSheet while you have either one or several programs
started with the Computer button. You must close all the programs you started
after clicking on the Computer button. TimeSheet will return automatically.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Saving Files in TimeSheet::
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TimeSheet's menu bar does not contain a File choice. This is because
TimeSheet handles all file saving chores automatically. Each and every
change in the Project Window or the Hours & Minutes windows are
recorded immediately. All file saves and retrieves are done automatically.

Because all information is saved as you go, you may quit the program
at any time and the next time you start TimeSheet the Project Window
and the Hours & Minutes Windows will be exactly as you left them.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How TimeSheet Keeps Time:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Computer button starts keeping time from the second any program
is started from the regular Windows screen.

NO TIME IS KEPT UNTIL A NEW PROGRAM IS STARTED.

You could remain at the regular Windows screen for an hour, start a program,
and exit it in a few seconds. When TimeSheet returns, no time will be logged
in the Hours & Minutes Windows. Only the time in the program is recorded,
not the time at the regular Windows Screen.

The Clock button keeps time from the second you start the screen saver until
you exit by clicking the mouse or pressing any key.
