                    >>> This Program is FreeWare <<<

INSTALLING:

You apparently already UnZip this file or you wouldn't be
reading this document <g>. You can install it from a floppy
diskette or your hard drive. Now, all you have to do at the
DOS prompt is type: INSTALL <Enter> and answer the questions.

Before using PW.BIN you must first setup a password.
To setup a password, make sure the file SETUP.COM is
in the same directory as PW.BIN and run by typing:
        SETUP <Enter>.

Note: you have the option of aborting at any time by
              pressing the Esc key.

You will first be asked to enter a new password. If you
do make a mistake, just backspace to correct the error.
You may use any combination of alpha/numeric characters.
Remember that character case is unimportant.
Note: extended ASCII characters are allowed.

Next you will be asked a few questions concerning
logging to a file. Just answer either yes or no.

        1) "Log authorized entries? (y/n)"

        2) "Log unauthorized attempts? (y/n)"

If you answered no to both of the above questions, no log
        file will be kept.

If you answered yes to either of the above questions
        you will also be asked:

        3) "Log in military time? (y/n)"

If you would like military time (24 hour time) used
in the log file, answer yes to this question. If you
answer no, the standard 12 hour format will be used.

        4) "Hide the log file? (y/n)"

Note: when the log file is hidden, you will not be
able to view it with a DOS DIR command. You will
however, be able to use the DOS TYPE command to
view the contents of the file. If the file is
more than a page long you might want to use the
DOS MORE filter to pause at the end of each page.

Do this by typing: TYPE PW.LOG | MORE <Enter>

You can unhide the log file by running the install
program again. When asked to hide the log file,
answer no. The log file will remain hidden until
              the next time you reboot.

The SETUP program will now modify the PW.BIN file.

The next step is to copy the modified PW.BIN file to the
root directory of your normal bootup drive, normally drive
C:\ (INSTALL.EXE will do this for you). Now place the statement
DEVICE=PW.BIN in the first position of your CONFIG.SYS file,
using the DOS EDLIN program (see your DOS manual), or your
favorite text editor. Now press Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot and load
        the Device driver.

You will now be prompted for the password that you have
installed. If you make a mistake entering the password,
either use the backspace key or press Esc to clear the
entire entry and start over. Note: Case is unimportant.
You will be allowed only two attempts at the correct
password before the system lock begins.

Author Note: Now this password program will not make your
computer Fort Knox, maybe a key switch on the main power
supply would help, but it will keep Computer Illiterates
Computer Illiterate and Non-Klingons out of your system.
