                                     Quick Start

          The following outline/paragraphs detail the steps necessary to
          begin using ATODfine (without wading through the user's guide).

          1) Read and agree to the license agreement (found on the third
               page of the ATODfine user's guide).

          2) Copy ATODfine to the same directory that AUTOSIG is run
               from.

          3) Make a backup of your configuration file (just as a
               precaution). This can be accomplished by typing

                         copy autosig.dfn autosig.bak <enter>

          4)   Start ATODfine by typing

                                   atodfine <enter>

          An intro screen is displayed while the configuration files are
          read.

          After successfully reading the configuration files, the main
          screen is displayed, as roughly illustrated below.

         Figure 1 - ATODfine Main screen

          The box on the left contains the forums as read from the AUTOSIG
          configuration file. The ten boxes in the center, are the
          functions of this program. The box on the right contains the
          forums as read from the ATODfine configuration file.

          Note the AUTOSIG forums have a double-line box around them, while
          the ATODfine forums have a single-line box. Also note the tick
          marks beside some of the function "buttons". These conventions
          denote what is being operated on, or the "focus".

          The box drawn with the double-line has the focus. The function
          "buttons" with a tick mark work on the focused forums. The
          function "buttons" without a tick mark work on any set of forums,
          i.e. the function of these "buttons" are not focused. They
          either apply to both sets of forums at once, or they don't apply
          to either.

          To change the focus to the other set of forums, press the Tab key
          or the space bar. The double-line box will move to the other set
          of forums. The tick marks will also shift to point in the proper
          direction.

          In short, you are ALWAYS working on the focused forums, which are
          pointed to by the tick marks and surrounded by double lines.

          The function "buttons" have a capitalized, highlighted letter on
          them (except for ATOL). These letters are one way of invoking
          the function.

          Look at the function "buttons" closely. Their positioning and
          alignment are no coincidence. They are arranged to resemble the
          ten function keys of the old PC keyboard. Each "button" has an
          associated function key -- the second way of invoking the
          function (the only way to invoke ATOL).

          The function "button" to function key alignment was carefully
          thought out to closely resemble AUTOSIG. For example, Help is
          F1, Exit is F10, cancel is Esc(ape). Below is a function
          "button" to function key map.

                              Help ->   F1   F2   <-   sWap
                              Edit ->   F3   F4   <-   Copy
                              Add  ->   F5   F6   <-   Delete
                              ATOL ->   F7   F8   <-   Sort
                              saVe ->   F9   F10  <-   eXit

          Moving the highlight bar among the forums depends on which set of
          forums has the focus. In the AUTOSIG forums, movement is
          accomplished with the up, down, left, and right arrow keys. In
          the ATODfine forums, movement is accomplished with the up/down
          arrow keys, PgUp/PgDn keys, Home, and End keys.

          The numbers below each box denote which forum is currently
          highlighted and the total number of forums.

          One other key has a special definition. It's the letter L, which
          causes a shell out to DOS.

          Pressing H or F1 will display a map of all the important keys.

          Following are brief descriptions of the function "buttons".
          Detailed descriptions can be found in the appropriate section of
          the user's guide.

                         the un-focused forum to the focused set of forums
          Edit - Edits the focused, highlighted forum

          Delete - Deletes the focused, highlighted forum
          ATOL - Allows modifications to the AUTO List
          Sort - Sorts the focused set of forums
          Save - Forces a save of the focused forums
          Exit - Exits ATODfine (after any necessary saving)
