AB OBJECTIVE: The paper described the conceptual approach set up by the
medical and social team of ARCAT-SIDA in the intent of providing new
means to better help and tools to better support and assist people
afflicted. DESCRIPTION: Social well-being appeared to be structured
around three key points: social integration, social and economic
stability, balanced frame of mind. TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME.
CONCLUSION: The authors underscored the need to: use each individual
situation (social and medical) as the basis for reflection and action,
note an individual's social rights and entitlements during the first
medical assistance intervention, improve assistance coordination and
anticipate coming social problems (expiry of health care cover, drop in
earnings, risk of eviction, etc), suggest to researchers, doctors,
social workers and the general public that research, care and solidarity
       necessarily go together.
