AB OBJECTIVE: Non-didactic strategies in AIDS prevention programs to
maximize participatory interactions among adolescent students within
limited time of One hour per workshop covering
       information/Empowerment/Collective Action. METHODS: (1.) Introduction
       -5mins; Pre-program questionnaire -5mins; (2.) dividing into small
       groups/ice breakers/discussion on community concerns -5mins; (3.) role
plays -10mins; (4.) brain storming discussion on groups' perception of
following important concepts in AIDS control program. TABULAR DATA, SEE
ABSTRACT VOLUME. Self-empowerment approach with accountability--15 mins.
       (5.) Slides/Flipchart discussion--10mins; (6.) Collective action towards
committment, involvement and formation of Anti-AIDS club--5mins; (7.)
Post-program questionnaire--5mins. CONCLUSIONS: When the participatory
interaction of the teachers and peer educators is high, then their
involvement as AIDS control activists is correspondingly high. There is
thus an urgent need for school-based comprehensive education on social
health and AIDS control with emphasis on non-didactic teaching and life
skills development and training. Since availability of time is always
limited as allotted by school authorities, DESH tries to get the maximum
       result.
