AB The forecast for AIDS infection in India requires intensive program for
education against STD infections. The need is much more in sexually
tolerant societies such as Jaunsar Bawar area in the Sub Himalayan
region of India. (see map). The paper deals with educational approach
without reference to the morality of sexual practices in the area. The
work carried out so far comprises of a socio cultural profile of the
region and preliminary discussions with the local leaders about the
danger of AIDS infection in their community. The proposal for funding
the program has been sent to the Minister of Health, Government of
India. In the meantime leaders active in the community have been
contacted for developing the action oriented program in select villages.
The Jaunsar Bawar community is known to be liberal in their sexual
practices and hence a victim of most of the STD infections. The findings
from the community will be used to develop task & community based
       training program.
