AB OBJECTIVE: To find out the knowledge attitudes & practices of PWAS &
PWHIVs that influence the spread of HIV after group therapy sessions.
METHOD: Six fortnightly sessions of group counselling was conducted to
20 male & 20 female PWHIVs and PWAs. Positive living discussions
included re-infection, safer sex methods, alcohol reduction, physical
exercises, diet, legal issues etc RESULT: 5/40 PWAs went public, 10/40
PWAs stopped drinking alcohol, 18/40 PWAs though single practised safer
sex, 17/40 returned to their active employment. CONCLUSION: Alot of ASOs
should be set up in Africa to help in counselling services. A successful
counselling contributes to behaviour change and slows down the HIV
       transmission.
