AB OBJECTIVES: 1. To examine & assess the high risk behaviour of college
youths. 2. To ascertain the impact of AIDS education after the
programmes. METHODOLOGY: An explorative & action research carried out
for over 6 months of duration. During the first phase of study an
interview schedule was designed to asses the risk behaviour. In the
second phase several modules were used in awareness programmes in
various forms, sex education to AIDS awareness. The third phase mainly
focused on evaluation of knowledge & behaviours related to HIV/AIDS.
SAMPLE: Both male & female are equally representative in the study.
RESULTS: There were significant impact on positive behaviour charge &
increasing knowledge level was observed after the awareness sessions.
The respondents developed in greater insight on individual risk
behaviour & appreciated the value of safe life style. DISCUSSION &
CONCLUSION: Many studies shows that the increase in knowledge level does
not necessarily mean there is change in behaviour. However, from this
study it is obvious that student have clear intellectual understanding
of risk behavioural consequences & its direct relationship in HIV
infection. They do show positive indication & acceptance of safe life
style. Viz. using condoms, reducing sex partners, avoiding casual sex
       etc.
