AB PURPOSE: To study peculiarities of spreading of HIV-infection in Moscow
on base of data of Moscow City Center for AIDS Prophylaxis established
in 1990. METHOD: Statistical calculation of data epidemiological control
of HIV-infection in Moscow from 1990 to 1993. RESULTS: Moscow is the
leader among the other cities of Russia regard of the number of new
found cases of HIV-infection. There are 135 new cases have been
registered up to 31 of December 1993 and it is one-found part of all
adult HIV-infection patients in Russia. The spreading of HIV-infection
in Moscow is maintaining through sexual contacts with prevailing
homosexual ones. (88 cases) being 65% from total HIV-infected patients
have been registered: 36 HIV-infected patients contract with the disease
through heterosexual contacts 6 (4.4%) after long living in African
countries, 1 (0.70%) became HIV-infected due to disinfection and
sterilization; in 4 the causes of infection could be determined.
Male/Female ratio was 6:1. Relevation of new causes of HIV-infection
takes place more often at the examination of sex partners of
HIV-infected patients (27.4% from total number of diagnosed cases) and
also at examination because of venereal diseases at the dispensary
(25.19%). During two last years the number of new diagnosed cases of
HIV-infection examined for clinical indications at admission for medical
care (22.96%). The diagnoses of AIDS was made in 15 patients, 10
patients with the diagnosis of the HIV-infection; the cause of their
death were opportunistic infections. CONCLUSION: Constant every year
increasing of number of new cases of HIV-infection is seen in Moscow.
The spreading of the disease is maintaining through mainly sexual
contacts with the prevalence of homosexual ones. Nevertheless the
frequency of heterosexual transmission of HIV every year increased being
important factor of growing of epidemia among general population.
