AB The performance characteristics of a dedicated CD4 counting system,
FACSCount, were evaluated in populations from Shirati, Tanzania.
Precision assessments involved 4 replicate stainings and analyses per
subject. The pooled CV's of the parameters evaluated (CD4,8,3 and 4:8
ratio) are presented below: TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME. Stability
assessments involved 4 replicate analyses per subject, at time points 0,
24, 48 and 72 hours, of both unstained aliquots and aliquots stained at
0 hour. Aged blood testing revealed no significant differences between
any time points. ANOVA aged stain testing revealed the following
differences (p < 0.05): TABULAR DATA, SEE ABSTRACT VOLUME. CONCLUSION:
FACSCount provides precise and stable stained and unstained results in
the large majority of HIV- and HIV+ Tanzanian subjects tested.
