Checklist for using this FWKLU200.ZIP package:

     [ ] 1. Do  PKUNZIP FWKLU200.ZIP <enter>

     [ ] 2. Read this file (README.TXT) carefully all the way through.

     [ ] 3. Do  GETLOOK <enter>

     [ ] 4. Until you have registered, keep a copy of REGISTER.FRM in the
            same directory with FWKCS.EXE.

This package is for use with DOS 3.30 or later, or in a suitable DOS
session under a multitasking system (including IBM OS/2 2.0 or later);
preferably at least 256 KB free memory (1 KB = 1024 bytes).

This zipfile, FWKLU200.ZIP, is a kit for users who wish to use only the
remote Lookup and remote cross_reference features of the FWKCS Contents_
Signature System. This package is smaller, for your convenience, but it
runs the same kernel and, for this reason, has the same (low) price as for
private personal use of the main FWKCS(TM) Contents_Signature System.

Provided that no fee is charged for the use, copying, or distribution; and
provided that they are not modified in any way; then you may freely
distribute this package, solely in its original Authenticity Verification
Zipfile named FWKLU200.ZIP with AV code =
    "# OFT466   Frederick W. Kantor (founder/information mechanics)" .

You may test this material at no fee before registering it. To run an
unregistered copy, keep a copy of REGISTER.FRM in the same directory with
FWKCS.EXE. The suggested test time is up to 30 days. If for use in a
public, commercial, school, institutional, or governmental environment,
then this no_fee test period shall not be more than 45 days.

Contents:

     FILE_ID.DIZ to describe this zipfile when it is uploaded to a BBS.
     README.TXT   <--<< you are here...
     REGISTER.TXT how to register just the remote lookup functions.
     FWKLU200.BLT short explanation SYSOPs can post for users.
     GETLOOK.BAT to get the remote lookup functions (see list, below).
     FWKLU.200    used by GETLOOK.
     FWKLU_TM.200 used by GETLOOK.

Run GETLOOK to get:

     FWKCS.EXE    main program, in assembly_language.
     FWKCS200.H00 text help file callable by FWKCS.EXE.
     LOOKUP.BAT for preparing a small inquiry_file to send to BBS.
     LOOKUPZ.BAT like LOOKUP, but esp. for checking zipfiles before upload
     RCROSREF.BAT for following up on cross_references.
     LOOKUP.DOC   read this for help.
     REGISTER.DOC for explanation of prices, and for information about
                  how to get new releases of FWKCS(TM) software.
     REGISTER.FRM the registration form; to run an unregistered version,
                  keep a copy of REGISTER.FRM in the same directory with
                  FWKCS.EXE.

You can use the remote Lookup to help find the missing files that go with a
single file you have, by doing a remote Lookup and calling one of the giant
BBS's that run FWKCS(TM). For example, if you want to find the .DOCs that go
with a game, there's a good chance that Lookup and a call to one of those
giant BBS's can find for you the name of the zipfile which contains that
whole set of files. Even if the name of the file you have was changed,
Lookup can still be used. Then, just download that whole zipfile...

If you are a BBS operator, Lookup helps you use tens of Gigabytes of
collected files to support your users's special requests. Your BBS's users
can call you locally at low speed -- you use your high_speed modem to get
what they needed -- letting you devote more of your resources to the kinds
of files you especially want to work with. Then, if you run FWKCS(TM), you
could become a preferred resource for that special area of work that you
like.

-------------------------

Getting Started:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 first do   PKUNZIP FWKLU200.ZIP <enter>
  then do   GETLOOK <enter>
After that, for direct on_line help,
     type   LOOKUP /* <enter>
            RCROSREF /* <enter>
More detailed information is given in LOOKUP.DOC. See REGISTER.DOC for
information about registering FWKLU(TM) and FWKCS(TM), and about how to
get new versions of FWKCS.
Experimental data has shown that the contents_signature system used by this
remote Lookup capability has provided a typical pair_wise statistical error
rate of less than one part in ten trillion. (This test data is included in
FWKCS200.REF, in the main FWKCS200.ZIP package.)
If you wish later to do a full FWKCS system installation, REGISTER.DOC
contains information about how to get the current release.
You also need these programs:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To use Lookup and Rcrosref together, you need on your PATH at least the
following (note: "*" denotes shareware; if you are missing any of the *
pieces, see the note below for a way you might get them as no_fee
downloads):

Needed for Lookup and for Rcrosref:

    * Phil Katz's PKZIP(R), Version 1.10 or later

-------------------------------

If you start exploring what FWKCS can do, for some FWKCS Auxiliary
Functions you should allow at least 367 KB free memory, and for full
operation of some you will need also

    * Phil Katz's PKUNZIP(R) and PKZIP(R), Version 2.04g or later

    * McAfee's SCAN

    * Vernon Buerg's LIST

and you will probably want the documentation and programs provided in the
main package, FWKCS200.ZIP. See REGISTER.DOC for information about how to
get all this material.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Be patient, Have fun, and if you need help, please ask your SYSOP to pass
along your request...

    P.S.: Remember to register your copy of FWKLU200 as explained in
          REGISTER.DOC.

          And, please do not remove Dr. Kantor's Authenticity Verification
          stamp from the FWKLU200.ZIP zipfile.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note:

If you are missing any of the shareware programs marked with an asterisk
(*) above, you can get them as no_fee downloads from The Invention Factory
BBS on your first call, from a 48_line hunt_up group of USR Dual Standard
modems, at 2400-16800 bits/sec (including V32.bis):

                    telephone  212-274-8110 8N1
                       telnet  199.183.47.133

Remember to properly compensate the shareware authors whose product(s)
you use.
