AB Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate and related compounds were tested for their
ability to inhibit gp120-CD4 interaction and human immunodeficiency
virus infection in vitro. The results show that pyridoxal 5'-phosphate
is a unique CD4 antagonist whose antiviral potency derives from the
presence of both lysine-reactive and anionic substituents.
