 AB    In this presentation I will start with a sketch of the subject matter of
       ethics. I will then distinguish euthanasia from a number of practices
       with which it is often confused. I will comment on the difference that
       (1) motive and (2) intention make to an act. I will comment on the
       argument in favour of legalising euthanasia which depends on the idea of
       respect for personal autonomy. I will speculate on why the Dutch have
       not legalised euthanasia. To conclude, I will ask whether one needs to
       believe in a Giver to think of life as a gift.
