AB The Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is a primary health care (PHC) facility
of Sydney Hospital located in Kings Cross, involved in the prevention,
treatment and care of HIV/AIDS and transmissible infections among at
risk youth, sex workers and injecting drug users. Nurses have practised
within a multi-disciplinary team at KRC since 1987 and throughout this
period, the role has developed and expanded to meet the ongoing needs of
the target populations. Nurses provide clinic based services and also
staff the AIDS bus, an outreach program to street sex workers. The role
of the nurse practitioner is currently undergoing evaluation in order to
       determine whether it is appropriate.
