AB A new AIDS curriculum for New York City junior high school students was
adopted unanimously at the school board meeting on January 19, 1995. The
curriculum, which stresses family values and promotes sexual abstinence
as the best way of avoiding HIV, was not enough to satisfy the Roman
Catholic Archdiocese, which objected to references to the use of condoms
       to prevent HIV.
