 1 - INTRODUCTION

 1.1 - INTRODUCTION

This document is formatted as a reference document. Rather than
trying to read this entire document, use the Table of Contents to
determine which sections to read in detail.

The patch updates the existing FTP.EXE, FTPD.EXE and
DIRECTOR.EXE files. The update is performed by creating a
temporary area to contain the patch files, transferring the patch
files to the temporary area and executing a batch file.

The update is designed to use the standard paths of
\LANWP\OS2BIN for FTP.EXE and FTPD.EXE and \LANWP\BIN40 for
DIRECTOR.EXE. If you have changed the path for these files,
please make corresponding changes to the paths in OS2P1.CMD.

Backup copies of the updated files will be created in a
temporary sub-directory. However, we suggest you create a backup
of the LAN WorkPlace software prior to executing the update.

All Operations may be performed from an OS/2 Window or OS/2 Full
Screen.

 1.2 - PATCH HISTORY

LO30A2.EXE supersedes OS2P1.EXE (No changes to file contents
have been made, except changes to the file naming and TID
format).

 1.3 - FILES UPDATED

 NameSizeDateTimeVersion

 DIRECTOR.EXE13721608-20-91 4:01a4-0Ev3 4.01
 FTP.EXE 7880110-21-92 5:32pR30-1U1 3.0
 FTPD.EXE5404712-16-9211:36aR30-1U1 3.0

2 - PROBLEMS CORRECTED BY THIS FIX RELEASE

 2.1 - (FTP.EXE) FTP.EXE had a "Divide by zero" condition that
would cause FTP to halt when using MGET, MPUT, and MDELETE. The
error is corrected by this patch.

 2.2 - (FTPD.EXE) FTPD.EXE had a pointer that would cause a lost
connection when attempting to rename a file on the system running
the FTP Daemon. The error is corrected by this patch.

 2.3 - (DIRECTOR.EXE) DIRECTOR.EXE did not work in version 3.0 of
LAN WorkPlace for DOS. This patch contains a fully functional
Script Director.

 3 - INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

3.1 - Create a temporary directory for the patch file. The
directory \TEMP is used for all examples.

 MKDIR \TEMP

3.2 - After the file is transferred to the temporary directory,
execute the file LO30A2.EXE:

 CD \TEMP
 LO30A2

The patch file will self extract and the contain the files
listed above.

3.3 - After the patch has self-extracted, execute the following
command to start the patch process:

 OS2P1.CMD

The patch will run for a few seconds and will print messages
indicating the files patched and the completion of the patch
process.

 4 - VERIFYING THE UPDATE

4.1 - To verify that the update completed properly, list the
files affected, and check against the file listing above for
correctness.

4.2 - The files may also be checked with the VRSNID program.

 CD \LANWP\OS2BIN
 VRSNID -I FTP.EXE
 VRSNID -I FTPD.EXE
 CD \LANWP\BIN40
 VRSNID -I DIRECTOR.EXE

NOTE: The version IDs must match the versions listed above in
section 1.3.

Please note that DIRECTOR.EXE has been changed to an early
version. This is correct for this file.

 5 - BACKUP FILES

Original files which were updated by this patch are backed up in
the sub-directory BACKUP within the temporary directory.
(\TEMP\BACKUP).

Batch files to restore the updated files to their original state
are also in the BACKUP directory. The names for the batch files
are UNPATCH.BAK for DIRECTOR.EXE, UNPATAxx.BAK for FTPD.EXE, and
UNPATAxx.BAK for FTP.EXE, where xx is a two digit numeric number.

The extension, .BAK will need to be changed to .CMD prior to
execution of the batch files.
