This bulletin takes you step by step through installing LANtastic

Power Suite's Lotus Organizer onto a LANtastic Dedicated Server.

After following these steps, you should be able to access the

Organizer database files on the dedicated server. Note: These

instructions apply to the CorStream server as well.

Step 1: The Organizer installation must be performed from a

workstation or server thats running Windows and can log into the

dedicated server. These instructions refer to this computer as

the Windows workstation. Also, the SHARE program must be

running on the Windows workstation. You can verify that SHARE is

running by typing MEM/C at the DOS prompt. If SHARE is not in

memory, just type C:\DOS\SHARE at the DOS prompt.

Step 2: Establish a drive redirection to the dedicated server

from the Windows workstation. To do this, at the DOS prompt on

the Windows workstation type NET USE F: \\SERVER\C-DRIVE <Enter>

where F: is the drive letter you want to use, and SERVER is the

dedicated server's name. Youll have to substitute the drive

letter you want to use and your dedicated server's name in this

example command line.

Step 3: Begin the installation by inserting LANtastic Power Suite

disk 1 or CD-ROM into the appropriate drive and start Windows.

From Program Manager, click on FILE/RUN A:\SETUP or D:\SETUP,

depending on which drive contains the diskette or CD. In the

LANtastic Power Suite Features Selection box, choose LANtastic

Network Operating System, and Lotus Organizer. In the Style of

Install box choose Quick Install, then click OK. You can install

additional features from this screen too, but to simplify the

process, you may want to defer installing any other options to a

later date.

Step 4: At the LANtastic Quick Setup screen, choose the option

Share this computer's drives and printers (run SERVER), and

choose Replace existing LANtastic settings, then click OK.

Bypass the Connections Quick Setup screen by clicking OK.

Step 5: When youre asked for adapter type in the Network Adapter

Setup screen, be sure to select the type of adapter thats

installed in the Windows workstation. In the Lotus Organizer

Setup screen, choose Database-Scheduling Center then click OK.

Step 6: The Organizer Group Scheduling Agent Setup screen

appears. This configures Organizer's group scheduling feature.

There are two ways of installing this feature: using shared files

for group scheduling, or using cc:Mail for group scheduling. This

bulletin covers the shared files for group scheduling option

only. Choose Use shared files for group scheduling, then click

OK.

The next screen is the most important section of the installation

so please read the following steps carefully.

Step 7: At the Organizer Database Quick Setup screen you have the

option to change the destination path for Lotus Organizers

database files. Leave the computer name as it is, then choose the

Change Defaults option in the lower right portion of the Setup

screen. In the next screen, in the Install to section, click

the Change button on the Database option.

Note: You cant change the installation directory for the user

files. The install procedure wont allow you to do this.

Where to install files prompts you for the path where the

Organizer database files should go. At this point you should type

F:\LANTASTI\LOTUS (where F is the drive redirected to the

dedicated server), then click OK. This takes you back to the

Quick Setup screen where you can click OK to continue. Then

verify that all the settings are correct on the LANtastic Setup

Summary screen. Once youve done this, click Install and

proceed with the installation. When its complete, leave the

installation disk in the drive, and proceed to the next step.

Step 8: At the DOS prompt on the Windows workstation, type

NET_MGR <Enter> then select Control Directory Maintenance. At the

Control Directory Maintenance screen click Change Control

Directory and type \\SERVER\C-DRIVE\LANTASTI.NET, where SERVER is

the name of your dedicated server. Escape back to the main menu

of NET_MGR then go to the next step.

Step 9: At the main NET_MGR menu select Shared Resources

Management. Press the Insert key. For the resource name type in

ORGANIZE then press Enter.

Note: You must use the exact name specified or Organizer wont

work. The same holds true for the path name.

For the path name type C:\LANTASTI\LOTUS, then press Enter. Press

Escape until youre at the DOS prompt. Run Windows again, then go

to the dedicated server and proceed with the next step.

Step 10: At the dedicated server, press Alt+Esc until you get to

the system console prompt. Then type DOWN <Enter> to shut down

the server, then EXIT <Enter> to get to DOS. Reboot the dedicated

server. The system is now reinitialized with the appropriate

resources to allow other computers on the network to access the

Organizer database files on the dedicated server. Now you must

return to the Windows workstation.

Step 11: At the Windows workstation, youll now need to rerun the

Organizer installation to configure this computer to actually run

Lotus Organizer. Begin the installation by inserting LANtastic

Power Suite disk 1 or the CD-ROM into the appropriate drive. From

Windows Program Manager click on FILE/RUN A:\SETUP or D:\SETUP,

depending on which drive youre using (floppy or CD-ROM). At the

LANtastic Power Suite Features Selection box choose LANtastic

Network Operating System, and Lotus Organizer. From the Style of

Install box choose Quick Install, then click OK.

Step 12: From the LANtastic Quick Setup screen, you can choose

Share this computer's drives and printers, or choose to install

as a workstation. Either way will work, but if you want other

computers on this network to have access to this computer's hard

drives or printer, youll need to configure this computer as a

server (select Share). Now choose Replace existing LANtastic

settings and click OK. You can bypass the Connections Quick

Setup screen by clicking OK.

Step 13: Be sure to select the Windows workstations adapter type

at the Network Adapter Setup screen. At the Lotus Organizer Setup

screen, choose the default Organizer User option, then click OK.

At the next screen you must select the name of the computer that

the Organizer database is on. This is the name of the dedicated

server. Verify that the information on the LANtastic Setup

Summary screen is correct, then click the Install button.

Step 14: The final step is to verify that everything is working

properly. Reboot the Windows workstation. When the workstation

comes up, try running Organizer. If everything was set up

properly, Organizer will access the database files installed on

the dedicated server. To check on this, type NET SHOW <Enter> at

the DOS prompt on the Windows workstation. Drive O: should be

redirected to the dedicated servers name.
